Comments: The other guestbook is back for me.... i'll check in just to make sure everyone hear doesn't forget any of their belongings. Sue, Angus has only the one kilt but promises to ring his second cousin twice removed, Fergus the Red, and have his highland kilt, the one he wore as an extra in Braveheart, sent over. it's got a bit of fake movie blood on the side but it's a red plaid so it's not too noticeable.

Alan, I can't seem to get back on the other GB so will be stranded here for now. Not bad though. A second honey moon. My Sweetie and me and thousands of years of history and miles of rock and sand. And Diane, just to make things a little better, he is pure Scot through and through. Now if you could just loan me one of Angus's kilts?

I'd be delighted to babysit them if you all want to go out drinking and smashing plates. I thought the youngsters might have fun building a sand replica of the Coronation Street set. ;-)

Comments: Well I finally made it to sunny Greece. I got lost, and ended up in Crete somewhere. Had a chat with a couple of peacekeepers, and they put me in a rowboat with some sardines and hardtack. I got blown off course and landed in Sicily. A bunch of Mafia guys saw me frantically waving my tired arms. We shared some wine, and went to see Mount Etna. Now I know what that four letter word for Sicilian erupter is. I told them I had to get to Greece before you all left at around mid-nite today (or so I heard) Thats Eastern Standard Time by the way. One of the boys knew a chap that had a Air Baloon. I know they have a name, but am so worn out I can't think of it. He landed me on abeautiful beach and here you allare. There are a few missing, but I think we can have a real good Ping regardless and toast the ones who didn't make it .I'll surely miss Bob from Ware though. Cheers everybodies.

Comments: Lord love a duck, Ken. I came to Greece for a holiday. Now I am all worried about cyber domains and corrie grabbers. Waiter! pass the grapa. (grappa?)
I haven't met up with anyone I know yet but have seen the wreckage from the Canadian contingent strewn up and down the streets. I made a rather hasty exit from my hotel this morning due to a slight misunderstanding with the landord's wife. Have been frolicking on the beach all day but I suppose it is time to look for a room for the night. Last time I spent several nights under an over turned fishing boat. However, I am getting too old for that sort of entertainment. I need my warm jammies and soft bed.
I am trusting that, by the time we all get back from Greece, the Platts will have vanished from the face of the earth. And that Vinnie..well I always loved him, but what a demanding overbearing drip he is turning out to be!
Ah one of life's little disappointments. I thought there was supposed to be a new doctor on the Street?? Any comments please?

Comments: Mike good to see you arrived in greece, Poor Mortimer was getting worried as all communications were down. He is having a wonderful time. Annabelle took him up to her room and there have been no sightings of them for a day. We found a note saying they have headed off to Mr Benn's costume shop on Waddlethorp Road in the town. Annabelle is eager to get his costume fixed up as soon as possible. Tonight we are all heading off in the Lodgemobile to the local Inn for a few sherry's. Mike you never told me how besotted with nuts Mortimer is.. in 3 hours he emptied the local corner shop supply of roast peanuts and they can't reorder till after xmas, so our hamper will have to be a supply him till Boxing day, however is being well looked after and is lovely to have around the place and sends his best regards. we will let you know soon about his return flight. Comments: Well now, you folks all came here to Greece without so much as leaving a message or a few words of directions behind for us old folks here at the Golden Plow Lodge. Fortunately, our good friend Stavros e-mailed that there was a bunch of lovely ladies frolickin on his beach and shoutin "Carnation Milk, Bacon Sarnies and Spotted Dick!" So we figured it just had to be you and packed our bags. Poor old Mortimer is somewhere in England but the rest of us just landed. Cook is off looking for feta cheese for our lunch and Mrs. Wiggens has her eye on a promising young fella already. Miss Diane, Mrs. Mcgilvern figures you will know where the Greek sailors are hiding and Miss Jubbly, we ain't talkin' to you at all since you never even told us you was takin this trip. This here is Joe heading the Canadian invasion of Greece.

Comments: This posting was on csvu.net from Graham Allsopp, webmaster of corrie.net... Hello all! Can I just apologise for all the hassle corrie.net readers have been having recently. Cable & Wireless had huge problems last week, which mean that many North American readers weren't able to access the site, and since late Tuesday afternoon people have had what appeared to be random access problems. After a while we've managed to narrow this down to DNS problems - which many of you have subsequently found. Like csvu.net, our DNS is served from University of Sheffield - but we couldn't find any problems with our DNS here. Eventually we've tracked it down to a problem with NSI and it appears someone has cocked up the payment of the domain name renewal. NetBenefit registered the name, and they are working on NSI to restore the name. Hopefully that should be back in operation by the end the US working day - but the name then has to be propogated again worldwide, so we may not be visible to some people until next week. Apologies again, but this was something way beyond our control...

Nancy Starshine!!!!! How absolutely luverly to see you again. Ooo guess what? My mum and dad went to Norfolk Island earlier this month and had a lovely time. They said it was like going back in time, very quaint - and of course, coverd in Norfolk Pines!!
Nancy - good luck digging yourself out. I hope your wrist is much recovered, you will need strong ones for all that shovelling.
It was Tvor that had this url saved, good old Tvor, mind you, I think the reason it was bookmarked was so that she could visit Stavros and the Greek Magnates again ;)

Comments: Hello, Jubbly, Ken, and all. I have only been lurking lately because of other commitments and new computers to figure out, but I really have missed the guestbook. Sort of fun to see the old entries from when we were last marooned in Greece for a while. I do hope we are on one of the Islands. There is a fastastic beach on Rhodes in a beautiful natural bay. Ah well, nice to dream!
There is so much unplowed, unshoveled snow around here that I decided to stay home today. Two storms in five days is a bit much, with more snow predicted for tomorrow!
Thanks Jubbly and whoever else thought of this idea. I bet they have Norfolk Island pines, a tropical tree, in Greece, so we can decorate a few in our new home. No time for painting olives, but here are some of the small Christmas ornaments - gold, silver and red glass balls that I used to decorate my Norfollk Island pine before it (sob) caught a tree disease and died.
May all of you have very happy holidays and a great New Year!
Cheers,

Comments: Ok and on topic in Ozzie time :0) Ok we are in August 1998 here and I cant stand seeing Sally snogging with Greg - ewwwwwwwwwww. Martin LaVell (sp) played a blinder yesterday - telling Sal he just can't please her but wants to make her happy. Well, thing is, he never bothered much in the past did he? Long as his egg and chips were on the table when he got back from t'Rovers he was happy. I still havent forgiven him for his treatment of RSal when he buggered off with Nastily then blamed Sal for being at her sick mam's too long. Serves him right, I say! Oh and the pips are coming on well but we do need a tree. Do Christmas Trees grow in Greece? Love Jubbly dipping her toes in the Greek Waters ;)

I have now solved the problem with posting, assuming you can get there via the more recent of the links I posted below (the one to corrie.net). ON TOPIC!! (rare for me!) Absolutely stunning performances this week (and especially in the hour-long special tonight) from everyone involved in BOTH baby storylines, but - as Annie says - special mention must go to Naomi and Michael for performances that totally tore my guts out. Comments: Good grief - it never rains but it pours! I've now got the GB on the new site so it looks almost like home, but the girls might like to take care of the soft furnishings (*ducks the PC police*)
The URL for the new GB is
http://194.205.225.3/corrienet/htdocs/guestbook/guestbook.cgi?view
and Graham will I'm sure be linking this from corrie.net main site asap.
Note that the new GB has full previewing facilities, supports HTML, but also "newline" characters in the posting box will be translated to paragraph marks, so it's easier to leave gaps!
Have fun!!!

Comments: Ohhhh, bloody 'ell. I'm dying here! My head is pounding, my stomach is lurching and all I can taste is feta cheese and last night's wine. These Greek holidays are not for the faint of heart. I am taking my little Greek waiter and going back to bed. Tvor,I'll meet you and Jubbly and the rest of the lot about noon in the square for lunch. Bring the Bromo. Are we staying here or cruising on to the next island?

Comments: Hi all Good news, bad news on the corrie.net front. The good news is that we've found a new host who is aware of what they are taking on, and as you read this, a new DNS is being propogated (ooh! err! missus!) to take you to the new site. Depending on where you are in the world, this may take 48 hours to reach you. The bad news is that we are having a little difficultly with the new DNS and it isn't actually going to corrie.net at the moment. I don't yet know if this is a server problem or if we need another DNS update - whatever the case, everyone should be getting corrie.net from the new server by the end of the weekend. The good news is that the old host hasn't yet pulled the plug on the old site, so even if you get the DNS update, you can still go to the old site at: http://216.10.1.120/ and the GuestBook at: http://216.10.1.120/guestbook/ We'll keep the old site up and running until either everything is sorted out with the new site or they pull the plug. Thanks again to Greggy for this backup GB - I'll keep you all posted !

Comments: This is all particularly coincidental as this weekend is Halifax's annual GreekFest! the Greek Church puts it on every year in early June, the kick off to the summer festival season. Admission is free, food does cost but you get all the popular types of dishes, ouzo, Greek lanaguage lessons, folk dancing, music. http://www.greekfest.org And best of all for a 2 dollar ticket you can enter to win a trip for two to Greece! Wahoo! So let's get in a bit more practice, gals! Kick, one two three, kick one two three...

Comments: Kalimera me old Greek scholars! Just passing through, and thought I'd bookmark this site before departing for all points north, as there's no telling where the good ship GB will be residing on my return in September.
I'm a great souvlaki and galaktoboureko fan, but a dish I tasted in Greece and would not mind never tasting again was dandelion leaves stewed in olive oil. And served cold. Not something to bring a light to your eye.
On the other hand, the waterlily stems I had stir-fried in chili oil in Bali were splendid. Very more-ish.

Do you know, the better this show gets, the harder it gets to find things to write about?
But i'll try....Gwen and Jim... just leave me cold, they do! Here she's got a win of 2000 pounds and everyone's trying to get her to buy drinks and borrow money when it's clear she hasn't got it anymore. She should have told everyone she paid off a large loan right from the get go. And If in reality, she isn't paying off her debts with it, as is obvious by the stream of debt collectors knocking at her door, and if her furniture is being reposessed (that story about giving it to a friend was clearly a lie) then what is she spending it on? All her worldly possessions seemed to fit into two bin bags at the end of the day! Couldn't you just smack Jim one? He knows Gwen isn't too keen on moving in and we have seen her tell Janice that he doesnt' exactly make the earth move. He hasn't said anything about undying love so he's got no business asking her to move in in the first place. Gwen isn't far too generous, Jim's far to stupid!
Denise Welch is playing her part amazingly well as a woman who's racked with guilt and grief over her son's murder. The Detective has been handling the investigation really well, i thought, very professionally. I figure Natalie gave Leanne a second chance *because* of how she handled Tony but she feels guilty because she didn't give that chance to Tony. But he didn't want that chance. The actress ought to get an award for her portrayal, all that guilt, anguish, grief, turning to anger and rage, lashing out at everyone. Dougie was the one voice of reason of all of them. Of course he did visit at a time when she wasn't drunk at least. It didn't last long though. I watched with great sympathy through all of her reactions and even shed a tear when she broke down about giving him a dignified burial after spending all that time unceremoniously shoved in a hole.
Oy, and don't they have a daily paper? Tony's identification would have made the news right away but it took days for all the folk on the street to be informed...BY WORD OF MOUTH! Rita works in a newsagents, for Heaven's Sake!! People get papers delivered and stream in and out of the shop when there's a gossipy article in the paper to be gleaned over!
Mice!!! Well i didn't think much of the storyline though i did approve of Debs at least not getting hysterical over the presence of a furry friend. Getting a cat probably would have been the best idea. If not Maxine's then one from a shelter. Natural predators would be better than setting out poison. Which of course they didn't do. The best part of this story, which was probably only there to provide a bit of light relief from Natalie's grief and rage, was Pat and Tyrone's dealings over cooked breakfasts and sarnies!!!!
Had to laugh at Candeeeceee worrying about looking like a kid so she put on eye make up.... and wearing her hair in braids. But isn't she a corker! What a good mate she is! Understanding and supportive beyond her young years. That Neil, his voice hasn't even changed properly. I'm amazed he even had the "wherewithal" to complete the job!! Wow, didn't they get two actors to look alike to play father and son Fearns!! I understand Gail's wanting to keep Neil out of it considering the age but they're going to need the money a child support cheque could bring. That might have been a mistake to turn it away. Awfully large business card, Mr. Fearns had. Did you notice?
What an ugly shade of GREEN Rita's coat and matching earings where and they clashed horribly with her red hair!! And i think Dev is getting an entirely too superior and arrogant air about him. He's dangerously close to crossing the Mike Baldwin line. I wonder if he's being groomed for the Baldwin-like ruthless businessman when Mike eventually retires down the road a few years. He needs to fall for a woman, have her wrap him around her little finger and lead him around by the nose, that would humble him a bit. And since when did Nita and Vik own the house? Ravi sold his shops to Dev and moved to India but there was no word of him signing the house over to his children that i recall!!! Ravi used to badger Vik about bringing Leanne back to "his" house so the children couldn't have inherited it from their mother. Curly's in a bit of bother, but i know where it's leading so i'll say nowt.
So what did you think? Other than the Gwen storyline which makes my teeth itch, i enjoyed it!!! See ya next week!
