An accomplished theatre actor, Mr. Bennett appeared on the British stage for fifteen years before moving to Canada in 1986. During this time he starred in The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole at the Wyndhams Theatre in London's West End. He also performed in Ghosts, Private Lives and Rookery Nook at such theaters as the Haymarket Theatre in Leicester, the Crucible Theatre, the Bristol Old Vic and the King's Head Theatre Club as well as many seasons on the stages of Canterbury, Newcastle, Nottingham, Plymouth, Manchester, Liverpool and Sheffield in England.

From 1992-1996, Mr. Bennett starred as the powerful and seductive Lucien LaCroix in the Gemini nominated television series Forever Knight, currently airing on the Sci Fi Channel. In 1995, he received the prestigious Gemini Award for his role in the series, and it was on this show where he made his directorial debut.

His work on Forever Knight resulted in a huge following. Nigel now has his own fan club, which have their own website.

Mr. Bennett's feature film work includes costarring with Gene Hackman in Narrow Margin, the starring role in The Outside Chance of Maxmillian Glick, a poignant drama that was voted Best New Film at both the Toronto Festival of Festivals and the Vancouver International Film Festival in 1988, an appearance in Legends of the Fall starring Brad Pitt, and the film Murder at 1600, starring Wesley Snipes.

Mr. Bennett's television credits in Great Britain include Harry, The Happy Hunting Ground, Elizabeth Alone, Housewarming, Reilly: Ace of Spies, and the marathon running series Coronation Street.

Canadian and American television appearances include Beyond Reality, Sweating Bullets, ENG, Counterstrike, Street Legal, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, F/X: The Series, La Femme Nikita, Mount Royal, Avonlea, Adderly, Night Heat, Friday the 13th, The Twilight Zone, Kung Fu:The Legend Continues, Lonesome Dove:The Outlaw Years and Psi Factor.

Mr. Bennett's made for television movie credits include the HBO Original Movie Gotti, starring Armand Assante, the critically acclaimed Harrison Bergeron, CBC's The Arrow, about the doomed Avro Arrow airplane, Dieppe, Lifetime Original's I Know My Son Is Alive and Her Desperate Choice, the 1995 mini-series Degree of Guilt, and numerous others.

Mr. Bennett's recently completed projects include: The Rescuers, an eight part mini-series produced by Barbara Streisand, One Tough Cop with Stephen Baldwin, The Pebble of Truth, an historical drama about the life of Sir Isaac Newton, Any Mother's Son, a Lifetime original movie with Bonnie Bedelia, Sanctuary, and The Hairy Bird with Lynn Redgrave, Gaby Hoffman and Kirsten Dunst.

In a major upcoming project, Mr. Bennett will direct and star in an independent film entitled An Englishman in New York.
