At the age of 15 days Christabel made her screen debut as Tracy, the new born daughter of Ray and Deirdre Langton, and continued for the for the first six and-a-half years of her life. In November 1984 her father's heating business came under pressure, and he decided to sell up and move his family to Guernsey without warning, where they all still live with her parents running a hotel. Granada were forced to search for a new Tracy, and meanwhile had to famously banish the character Tracy to be "upstairs doing her homework" for nearly two years.

Christabel, who likes to be known as Chrissy, continued acting with the Guensey Youth Theatre and studied at Guernsey Grammar School where she gained 9 O levels and 4 A levels.

In July 1998 Chrissy was awarded a Batchelor of Arts Honours Degree (2:1) in Humanities (Media Studies and Performing Arts) from the 150 year-old Trinity College of the University of Wales at Camarthen. She says "I would love to further a career in acting but the possibilities are probably a million to one. I am currently studying for an MA and hope to do a PGCE [a teaching qualification]."
