Graham Haberfield was born in Chesterfield on 17th November 1941, the son of a railway porter. He was educated at the Herbert Strutt Grammar School in Belper before joining the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. He graduated in 1962 and made his professional debut in Spring 1962 as plumber Jerry Booth in Coronation Street.

Graham remained with The Street until May 1968 but took several breaks from the series to enable him to appear in repertory companies at Windsor, Watford, Leeds and Bradford. After leaving Coronation Street Graham was worried that he would be type cast and would find getting work difficult but soon he was given the role of Winston Platt in Granada Television's series The Dustbinmen which ran from 1969 till 1970.

Graham later appeared in No Hiding Place and Germinal. He married Valerie and they had two sons Iestyn and Billy. Billy appeared in Coronation Street as a child playing Danny Crossley, son of Sheila Crossley who was played by Billy's real life god mother actress Eileen Mayers. Graham died on 18th October 1975 from heart failure brought on by a liver condition, he was 34 years old.
