Tim, a life-long Newcastle United fan was first a paratrooper before becoming an actor. Coronation Street was his first TV role, and he subsequently appeared in The World Cup - A Captian's Tale, Emmerdale Farm, When The Boat Comes In, Crown Court and Minder before his first major role - as Dennis in Auf Wiedersehen Pet.

Other credits include Boon, A Kind of Living, A Perfect Spy, Tickle on the Tum, Flea Bites, Casualty, B&B, Boys from the Bush, Cut and Run, Stay Lucky, Cracker, Crime Limited Special, Hostage, The Detectives, The 10%ers, Frank Stubbs Promotes, Heartbeat, Harry and The Grand. He also featured in the film Bird on a Wire.

Two of his most recent roles - Foxy in Common as Muck and King Leek were written for him by William Ivory - who appeared in The Street as Eddie Ramsden. 1997 also saw him play Collins in The Grand and the BBC's Tom Jones. In 1998 he reprises his role in The Grand, appears in the film Shadow Run and the BBC sitcom Roger, Roger, written by John Sullivan who is also writing another comedy specifically for Tim.
