The doctor who just happened to be taking a First Aid class in the Community Centre when Elsie Tanner fell asleep on her sofa with a cigarette and the sofa smouldered, filling No11 with smoke. Curiously, he didn't recommend that Elsie went to hospital.

In December 1980, Stan Ogden went to see him about an allergy. For a week Stan's life hung in the balance as the doctor waited for the test results - but fortunately for Stan he wasn't allergic to beer, just eggs, and he could resume drinking again !
