Harry lives in Nightingale Terrace, and until the middle of 2002 had worked at Manchester Airport for over 20 years as a "Cleanliness Consultant" (that's a cleaner to you and me), including a long stint in the VIP suite.

After visiting the Rovers and commenting on the lack of cleanliness (The Rovers hadn't had a full-time cleaner for a year), Harry agreed to clean The Rovers for a few pints of beer and £10. Having made such a good job, landlord Fred Elliott took him on full-time, and the next month appointed Harry as cellerman and potman as well.
