Bev is Shelley's mother. She and her deceased husband ran a pub for years. A widow who nursed a sickly daughter Sharon until her death in Feb. of 2004. Bev has visited Shelley at the Rovers on occaision and moved in after Sharon died to help Shelley with the pub. She has an appreciation for the male species and has had flings with Ciaran McCarthy and builder Charlie. Fred Elliot took a fancy to her at one point but then that's nothing new. She made an unwise bet with Tracy Barlow that Tracy couldn't get Roy Cropper in bed but was horrified when Tracy actually claimed to have done it on the night of Shelley's wedding to Peter Barlow and she quickly terminated that budding friendship. Bev always suspected that Shelley's fiance Peter was up to no good, but couldn't prove it. Her suspicions were vindicated when it turned out that Peter was married to Lucy at the same time that he married Shelley in 2003. In June 2004 she had a repeat fling with Charlie who was dating Shelley at the time. She told Shelley that Charlie was not to be trusted and why but Shelley didn't believe her and accused her of lying to wreck her relationship. Bev was shown the door and left the Street in the traditional taxi.
