The original Kabin was actually called "The Korner Kabin"
and was a newsagents and tea stop. It has been trading for many
years when it was bought by Len Fairclough and run by his girlfriend
and later wife, Rita. It had a flat upstairs that Mavis Riley
lived in up to its sale.
When Morris Jones built the new side of the Street, after tearing down Mike Baldwin's old factory, Rita was the first person to move her business. She renamed the business, "The Kabin" and left it at that.
