Sunday 1 April

It's the day of the Sausage Trail. Ashley is leaving his home when Max stops him. He's got a box of sausage meat under his arm and she's unhappy that meat has been in the house. Ashley says that he has to guard the specially prepared sausage meat and get it to his shop in mint condition. Fred pulls up outside driving a red van with a large advertising sausage on the roof! He says he's busy advertising the trail. Fred wants him and Ash to enter as a "father & son team" and promote one sausage (Fred's). Ash says he'll pack in butchery before that happens and that he is going to win the competition.

Tyrone and Jason are at the garage - Jason has just handed over his share of the anti to go into the dodgy CD car player racket.

Geena visits Sunita at the flat over the Corner Shop. She suggests that the girls go out for a drive. Sunita says today's the day of her flight so she daren't go outside. Geena says she'll stay in with her and keep her company and that no-one is going to make Sunita marry someone she doesn't want to.

Fred is fussing around Roys Rolls, checking that all is in order for the finale of the competition and that there's a ballot box for the category "The People's Choice". Roy fussily says all's well and that Fred should just be patient because its still early in the day. The doctor and Roy fret about crowd control when judging starts at 3pm. Fred tells Roy to relax and enjoy the day. Later he tries to insert some false entries into the ballot box but Roy spots him and Fred is left begging forgiveness. Roy confiscates the fraudulent voting slips.

Indoors at the Platts Martin enters and Gail says she's invited him round to lunch. David and Sarah say don't bother because the two of them row more now than when Martin was still living there, the children are sick of it and cant see the point of Gail and Martin ever getting together again. Sarah then lets drop about Martin seeing Rebecca at Christmas, Gail wants to know if they slept together and how does Sarah know this anyway. Martin explains that Sarah saw him and Rebecca together but that he had asked Sarah not to reveal anything to Gail. Gail tells Martin that Sarah has a point and he should talk to her. The row rumbles on and Gail says that since Martin has been caught red handed he can get out of her site.

Fred serves his masterpiece sausage to a crowd of customers including Sally and the girls. Boris is alongside Fred. Max drops in on Ash and says she's been down the Internet Caf and discovered a web program which will predict when she ovulates. And of course it's today so Ash must be on standby. She'll get a call from the web people to tell her precisely which hour she should have intercourse. Max will in turn ring Ash and he'll have to hurry home to perform the deed.

Back at Roys Rolls Fred has arrived and is trying to get Roy to predict the winner. Roy is having none of it, just says the turnout has been good.

As Dev is about to enter the flat over the shop he is attacked by Sunita's brother and a mate. Dev manages to throw the attackers off but there is much punching and banging on the door, Dev and the brother enter the flat and find Sunita and Geena there. Dev wants to call the police and report that he's been assaulted. Sunita says she's never had her brother come round before, he says its because the whole family are worried and that she wasn't forced into this marriage. She says that she's decided against it and he's a fine one to talk what about his marriage to Beth. Its OK for boys they can do what they like and chose but not the for girls they have to have arranged marriages. Brother says that there's nothing wrong with their parents' arranged marriage, it's been a big success. He leaves and Sunita starts crying all over Dev whilst Geena looks on. De says Sunita should pack and come back to his flat as the brother now knows where she has been hiding

Back at Roy's Fred is worried because the judges havn't all turned up. Audrey arrives and wants assurance that she looks good. The tension mounts, now all three judges are there (the Dr and a reporter from The Weatherfield Gazette make up the panel). The judges deliberate, Boris and Ash chat. His phone rings but he ignores it.

Boris admits that he's switched sausages and that Fred's entry is a normal run of the mill sausage. Dr Ramsden and Audrey both say that the sausage they are testing is just like sausages used to taste and is nice and spicey. The 3rd judge agrees. The Dr announces the winner of The People's Choice by 86 votes is... Ashley Peacock.

The Critics Choice winner is also Ashley Peacock. Max arrives too late for the judging but wants to know why Ash ignored his phone (another missed "baby" opportunity), Ash says to Fred and the other contestants that he hopes there are no hard feelings. Max says well done and especially with a Veggie sausage. Fred calls Foul, says you cant win a sausage competition with no meat. Ash says his competition does contain meat. It's decided that the winning sausage will be sent for analysis and for the time being the results of the competition are null and voice.

Monday 2 April

Gail tells Sara-Lou that things got out of hand the evening before. David ask if Sara-Lou does it on purpose, telling Gail about the nurse.

Danny is looking at the paper and raeds that there are house being built that they can afford. The house can be taken in opart exchange, and Sally comments that it's not too far from Kevin. Danny comments that she has to spoil everything.

Tyrone tell Ryan that he has the money for the CD-players. He calls round at the garage for it later. They decide to store them at Jason's house. Jason comments they had better hide them well, as he's convinced that they are 'knocked-off'.

Martin stops Gail in the street and tries to explain about Rebecca, Gail is having none of it. He appears the house later, and he explains that Rebecca wanted him to go with her back to Dubai, but Martin couldn't leave his family. He put his kids before Rebecca.

Danny is asking Rita what kind of place Park View is? Kevin overhears him, and ask what it is about. Danny brags that it has three bedrooms, and patio, and a barbecue, and if it's not there, they'll be buying somewhere else.

Danny, Sally and the kids are shown around the house. Sally wants more time to discuss it, but the agent states that they are selling very fast, and for 100UKP a plot can be theirs. Later in the Rovers, Kevin comes up, Sally says nothing has been decided, but Kevin says Danny has already been bragging about it, and where are the kids? Now I'm sure, Sally said with Gail - and Kevin storms off to see them. But in the next scene, Gail is in the Rovers with Audrey telling her about Martin and Rebecca. Audrey says Rebecca has probably kicked him into touch, and Gail is falling fo it. Gail replies that she felt sorry for him, but she wouldn't have him back - things have gone too far.

Ashley and Fred meet in the Street, Fred apologies to Ashley, but he says he couldn't let a veggie sausage win a competition, and can they be father and son again. Ashley is having none of it

Peter is pinching his third wisky of the day, by Toyah's reckoning, and Peter asks what she's goinbg to do about it? She tells him nothing, him and Duggie deserve one another.

Jason asks for an orange juice and asks Toyah about the job as a potman. Toyah says it's a barmans job as well. He asks for her phoner number, and ends up wanting to crawl under a stone. Peter spies him, and does athe big man act about under age drinking. Duggie tells Peter , he's been a real help, and would he stay on full-time. Pweter is please to oblige.

Audrey tell Peter that Weatherfield is twinning with the Costa-del Sol in Spain, work to do out there, not a holiday! (Cue holiday in Spain for Audrey)

Dev tells Sinnita that if nothing had happened by Sunday she promised she would phone her parents, he hands her the phone.

Tyrone wants Kev to fit the CD players, but Kev is having none of it. Sam pays for one, but brings it back..it's just an empty casing. Jason says that's no problem and offers him another..

Ashley and Fred bump into one another in the Street again. Ashley asks if Fred is following him. Fred wants Ash to forgive and forget, but Ashley rounds on him saying, he's not just lost him the competition, but all his respect. Rita overhears the exchange, and offers Fred a drink in the Rovers, the sad man, turns and says that he can't, he's boycotting the Rovers as well.

Sinatta's parents come to see her. Dev and Geena make to leave, but Sinnita wants them to stay. Her parents say that Dapak parents have been very understanding, and that they understand brides have cold feet, they are willing to wait. She explains that she doesn't want to marry him or move to India. Never. They tell her that it's generation and generations, and she has until Friday to make her mind up to marry him, or ber banished from the family all together.

When geena tries to intevene , Sinatta's mother rounds on her , and asks does Geens expect a future with Dev, Geena says they have never discussed it, and she rounds and say 'and why', because Dev is just having fun, and when it comes down to it, he will marry and Indian girl.

Sam goes to take his CD player back for his car, Jason gives him another, Sam would prefer his money back. The next one is just and empty shell as well - they've been done.

Wednesday 4 April

Sally is having her breakfast and looking pensive. She's remembering all the things that have happened in that house. Danny says that's a good reason for leaving it. She agrees she loved the new house but she can still see only problems and is worried about Kevin. Danny points out they're only moving to the other side of town. It's not Australia.

Ash tells Rita they'll get the results of the sausage analysis today. He leaves when Fred comes in. Rita's never seen a family feud caused by a sausage. Fred blusters and says it's butcher's honour. The blood of beasts runs in Elliot veins. A veggie sausage puts the proud tradition of meat-mongering through the mincer. Rita says that's pure tripe.

It's coming up to election time so Audrey leaves Max in charge of the salon. She has to prepare and get ready for her trip to Spain. She's confident the voters will be with her. Max reminds her of the cobbles farrago.

The girls meet Kevin at the garage. He's called to the phone and David arrives. He tries to impress them by saying he works with Sam on bloke's stuff. When Kevin returns, he sees Danny taking the girls to school. Tyrone and Jason challenge Ryan about the CDs and ask for their money back. He refuses. He says they can try telling the police but it may not be a good idea.

In the cafe, Audrey canvasses Roy's vote. She tells him she'll be standing again as she couldn't let her voters down. She then sits down with Alma and bemoans the fact she doesn't yet have a campaign manager. Cue Fred. Audrey asks if he'll be her champion and of course he chivalrously accepts. But when he hears what he's to do, he backs down, saying he has too much on to do her justice. Tyrone and Jason are wondering how to get their money back. Tyrone wants to get Dennis's advice but Jason doesn't want him to know as he's already given him money.

Peter sucks up to Duggie in the pub. He's brought some "rugby rubbish" as Toyah calls it, mementoes of his playing days to give the Rover's some character. Peter didn't know about his past and asks him what it was like to be famous. Birds waiting for him outside nightclubs. Toyah is unimpressed by all this laddish talk.

Over in the shop, we hear that Sunita's parents have given her til Friday to make a decision. Vik jokes again about them coming after Dev with machetes. But he says the Parekh's are well-connected and can do him a lot of damage.

Rita sees Kevin moping at the bar. She asks him what's up and he whinges about Danny and the new house. She assures him he'll still see the girls and he isn't helping himself by worrying about it. He goes off on one and says she'll still have the family she paid for. Rita looks pained that her good deed is thrown in her face again.

Interval

The garage lads are concerned. Kevin is clearly drunk and tinkering under a bonnet. He's going to harm someone at this rate. Dennis has a word and eventually persuades him to go home. David has turned up to see Sam again and sees all this going on. The girls arrive later trying to play with David again (why, he's always awful to them), and he delights in telling them their Dad is drunk.

Audrey has moved her campaign to the Rovers. She gets in a couple of large gins for her and Alma and wonders who she can get as her manager. Ken and Mike are both rejected. The sausage report is back and Ash is vindicated. Max says he can now make it up with Fred but Ash refuses.

Sally comes home and hears that the part exchange has been agreed. They're moving. Hooray!

David AGAIN goes to the garage and whinges about it all being Sarah's fault when Sam again won't let him help. This time Sam puts him straight. It was David who stole Sarah's diary and it was David who read it when Sam told him not to and it was David who told everybody about it. He's let Sam down badly. Sam leaves and in a fit of pique, David scratches his car bonnet.

Dennis sees Tyrone and Jason in a huddle and wants to know what's up. They've been acting strange for days. They finally confess and he isn't happy. They should have know better. The only thin you get off the back of a lorry is trouble. Tyrone wonders if Dennis has any advice.

Audrey has covered a table in paperwork. Alma tells Curly and Emma that she's preparing her manifesto and if they have anything they want changing, now's the time to tell her.

Rita tells Sally about her scene with Kevin. Max is still trying to get Ash to make it up with Fred, saying he'll be sitting in the house all by himself. In fact, he's at another pub, chatting up the barmaid. (It's Melanie Kilburn, last seen in Where the Heart Is). They tell each other their divorced and she's called Eve.

Sam sees the scratch on his car.

Sally sees Kevin sitting outside the chippy. She asks him round for a chat tomorrow as Danny will be out. He'll think about it.

Curly has moved to Audrey's table and is full of ideas, especially green ones. It reminds Alma of Spider. And in fact, Curly wrote Spider's manifesto when he stood for election. (is the trap sprung?) Audrey thinks Curly's ideas could capture the public imagination. Would he be her campaign manager. Emma thinks it would give him something to do when she was on nights. Curly doesn't need much persuading, but makes Audrey agree she will keep all her promises if elected.

Ryan comes out of the Rovers and walks into Tyrone Jason and Dennis. He grabs hold of him and pins him against the wall of the ginnel. Half of that £400 was mine. So give me my money or those stereos won't be the only things that's broken. He punches Ryan in the lower regions (we don't see) then lets him go. Dennis really looked the hard man in this scene. The boys look shocked at what they've unleashed. Is this a hint of Dennis's past of was he putting it on?

Friday 6 April

With just over a week to go to Easter, on my return to Friday night Coronation Street updates it's time for tonight's update. And by the way, it was Lisa after all that

Tonight's episode starts with Sam getting a quote from Kevin to re-paint the car which David Platt scratched. Kevin says he will be able to do it.

Sally and Danny bode farewell for the day, Danny is worrying that he won't be able to remember everything he needs to throughout the day.

Jason Grimshaw thanks Dennis for not telling Eileen about what happened with the CD players. Dennis said he couldn't because she didn't know about him lending the money anyway.

David Platt agrees to meet up with dad, Martin for lunch in the caf.

Ryan is turning into work but runs into Dennis who once again demands Jason's money back. Ryan says he can't get it, Dennis though threatens Ryan saying that he had better get it; 200 by that evening.

In the household of the Grimshaws, Eileen has found the CD player boxes and is demanding an explanation from Todd who doesn't know anything about it.

In Roy's Rolls, Hayley worries that the fostering agency may have forgotten about them as it's been a long time since they heard from them. Roy tries to reassure her that they haven't but Hayley says she will phone Mr Hartnell later.

Back in the caf Jason tells Tyrone that Dennis has threatened Ryan into getting them their money back. They are both self-assured that Dennis will sort it out. Maria comes in and asks for the bank paying-in book so she can put 20 in that she got from the kennels. Tyrone takes it and says he will put it in himself.

In the Rovers, Ryan asks Linda for an advance on his wages. When Linda asks how much she refuses as Ryan asks for 400.

Audrey and Curly are continuing to ponder over their strategy for the local council elections. When Emma asks Audrey what her stand will be on the local policing matters she is stumped and Curly has to say that they are yet to review them.

Dev has got Sunita to work in the corner shop. Sunita is due to meet her parents again at 2PM, Dev reassures her that it will be ok.

In the Caf, David makes attempt number 62 to try and convince Martin to move back in with his mum. Martin once more says that they can't. David admits to coining Sam's car but Martin says nothing and agrees to keep it between just them.

Dennis returns home to a hostile Grimshaw house where Eileen has got fish and chips in. She manages to get Dennis to reveal all about the CD players and him lending Jason the 200. Despite this, Eileen persists in throwing all three packets of fish and chips at the ducking Dennis! They continue to row and Eileen says that she loves Dennis more than anything else but that when she makes a decision about her kids that Dennis should agree with it!

In the factory, Linda is doing the wages complete with a huge pile of money next to her (oh-oh..) Ryan comes in and asks her about an order he can't understand. When Linda is heading towards the door he grabs a handful of the notes and stuffs them inside his pocket.

Sunita meets up with her parents in the shop. They ask for Sunita's final decision but it is still 'no'. Her mum and dad are angry and insist that Sunita is no longer part of their family. Sunita chases after them but to no avail and sobs into the arms of Dev.

In the Rovers, Ryan gives Dennis the money he stole off the side in the factory. It is only half of what he owed. Dennis gives Tyrone his cut just as Maria walks in asking what is going on, Tyrone says he is being paid, she says that some of that should go into their bank account..

Fred has gone to his new watering-hole again and meets up with the bar maid he met before. She has just finished her shift and the two sit down with a drink.

Sally has invited Kevin around. Sally says that she is worried about Kevin who seems to be down. He agrees to have a lager.. (oh-oh)

Fred tells her new company about his problems with Ashley. She says that she has a complicated story about her kids and she only realised how much she missed them after they had all gone. Fred agrees to go and see Ashley.

Sally and Kevin are knocking back the cans of lager, Kevin admits that he shouldn't have married Alison because him and Sally slept together the night before. Sally says that it was just instinct and they were both doing what they were used to. Kevin says that he thinks there is still something between them and tries to get Sally to think the same thing.

Dev is still being the listening ear for Sunita who is worried about losing her family for good. Dev doesn't want Sunita to leave as she is one of his best workers so he offers her the flat above the shop and a job in the corner shop so he can deduct the rent out of her wages (!!!) She gladly accepts and kisses Dev who shrugs it off maintaining his cool image!

Back at the drink-in, the lagers have obviously plucked up Kevin's courage (which is surprisingly true - Phil who likes a pint of Grolsch.) Kevin continues to try and get Sally to admit that they still have something together, he reaches out to touch her shoulder but she pulls it away. Kevin then goes to kiss her but Sally this time pushes him off altogether. She demands that he leaves and says that she never wants to be with him..

All that and not a gun in sight..

REVIEW:

The quality of the show has improved since my last review a fortnight ago but you can still see why it is continually trounced in the ratings. Kevin and Sally part 367 is being used as the main story at the moment and it's been seen time and time again. Sunita could be an excellent addition to the cast. PLEASEEE give Tyrone & Maria more of a main storyline - in particular Maria who has recently taken the role of a walk-on part! That way I can look forward to the Friday night update a lot more ;-)

My Grand National Tip: try place bets (first four) on both 'Beau' and 'Inis Cara'

I'll be back next Friday!

Sunday 8 April

Tis Tuesday evening and you are all missing your Sunday night update. Well the keyboard is fired up and ready to go. Sponsorship is by Cadbury's Miniature Heroes.

Written by Martin Allen, directed by Ian Bevitt.

Danny apologises for his late night - but that is not causing Sal's upset - she is worried about Kev - although she denies she saw Kev - she claims she was merely watching television.

Dennis and Eileen are arguing. She is unhappy about the CD players. And although Dennis has cooked a breakfast Eileen decides to consume some cereal. Todd also gets a telling off. Eileen goes to the caff for breakfast despite being told not to throw good money away by Dennis. She claims not to have heard that comment.

At the Kabin Norris is complaining to Martin (in Edna's hearing) about the pains in his legs. Martin denies knowledge of medical problems when off duty and suggests a whisky and a visit to the doctor if it does not improve! Edna reckons it is restless legs - a condition which can get much worse - obviously alarming Norris when she tells him he is better off not knowing about the outcome! On the other side of the shop Todd brings Tyrone up to date on Eileen's attitude whilst Maxine is telling Ashley to end his row with Fred.

At the Battersbys Eileen is metaphorically crying on Janice's shoulder as they share a cup of coffee. Janice reckons that Dennis is a good man much better than Les who would never spend money on anyone other than himself - but Eileen remains unhappy that Dennis went behind her back. Eileen is worried because the boys are running rings round Dennis and when he susses that out he will depart and leave her (personal view - she is wrong. I think Dennis knows what he is doing and how to work with the boys; I don't think he will be on his way).

Maria wants to know if Tyrone has paid in the money yet. She asks for the money back to pay in herself. Tyrone has mislaid it - Maria is worried and wants to see the money.

Ryan is outside Underworld but Linda (wearing a "SuperCow" teashirt) offers him 4 hours work at 5 an hour to give the place a good clean. He needs the extra money and accepts. She gives him the keys.

Sally is looking for Kev but Dennis has not seen or heard from him all morning - and the truck has gone as well.

At the Rovers Duggie asks Vik if he wants another game - declined but Steve volunteers to join Duggie and Peter. Norris and Edna are discussing arthritis. Edna is spreading stories about people she has known - an operation which went wrong.

Sal is with the gurls when there is a knock at the door. Tyrone comes in - but there is no sign of Kev as he is supposed to be having the gurls for the day. Sal and Rursie are worried.

Sunita is eating in the caff. Martin and Danny are discussing the forthcoming wedding - Martin finally gets an invite out of Danny. Bobbi and Vik arrive and sit down with Sunita. Bobbi invites her to join them at a club tonight. Vik can't drink - he is driving. Bobbi seems keener on making friends than Vik!

Fred wanders into the Rovers and is greeted by Duggie. Fred is not fazed by Duggie's unwelcoming comments - the latter reminds the former that he "stinks" and is the lowest of the low! Fred turns to Ash and Max and the latter asks if they are going to make up. Fred admits he has come to see Ashley. Janice tells Dennis about Eileen's concerns. Janice thinks that Dennis was right and he looks more cheerful. Edna is still telling stories about medical problems to Norris. She ends her comments with a smile.

Fred is talking to Ashley. Max refuses to let Ash leave. Fred finally admits that it was a shock being beaten by his son - a rude shock. But Ashley's entry was the best and Fred is proud of the family's achievement. He should never have said anything about it being vegetarian and he will never doubt his integrity ever again. Ash sits stony faced - although Max reckons Fred has been very fair. Ash sits still listening. Fred says he reckons Ashley feels the same - can they shake hands? Ash hardly moved and then says he supposes so and eventually hands come together and there is a big smile on Ashley's face.

The gurls are still waiting for Kev. Rursie asks if he is poorly and then tells Sal about Kev being drunk a few days before. Sal gets even more worried.

Linda collects the keys as Ryan finishes - he has done a good job and can do the same next week. OK. He asks for the money. She points out that he stole 200 and it will be paid back by working on Saturdays. Did he really think she was that stupid. She will not tell Mike - and he had better pull no more stunts like that.

Norris knocks on Matt's door in a panic - he is so wound up by Edna that he wants instant treatment!! This is the comic relief moment this week.

Steve arrives with Vernon, a mate, for the card game. Duggie asks if he has played before. They go through to the back. Toyah is left alone in the bar.

Ash, Max and Fred are talking again. Max asks Fred where he has been - there are other pubs you know!! Max notices that Fred has cheered up immensely. Indeed one might say there is a twinkle in his eye!

Matt finds Edna in the Rovers - is she looking peaky? Perhaps she is coming down with lassa fever? Matt tackles Edna on her second opinions - perhaps she could stick to cleaning in the future. Toyah shows Matt through to the back and they order drinks from her. There is some rather sharp banter which upsets Toyah from Vernon and she answers back. Peter says she lives in - with Duggie who tells Vernon to calm down.

Tyrone tells Maria what happened to the money and that he has been lying. Maria is very upset and Tyrone starts worrying that he is going to be dumped.

Edna apologises to Norris for disturbing him. It appears he has varicose veins and has to wear support stockings. He refuses to let her tell another story.

Danny and Sally discuss Kev's absence. Danny reckons that Kev is as bad as he is painted by Kev for letting them down.

Peter and Steve wind each other up over Karen. Steve tells him to get his facts right. Peter calls his bluff - but Steve wins the hand.

Toyah is clearing the bar up single handed. She is unhappy with the treatment from Duggie and his friends. Duggie wins a hand. Peter calls Liz a slapper and they throw insults at each other. Duggie tells Peter to watch his tongue. The card game breaks up. Toyah reckons living in the Rovers is like hell. Duggie says if she does not like it she knows what she can do - and it is conveyed in a rather threatening manner.

Monday 9 April

Danny walks into the room and tells Sally that he has seen a nice St Christopher on a chain for the girls being bridesmaids. Sally looks pensive, and when pushed Sally tells Danny that she's worried about Kevin. He asks her to put Kevin to the back of her mind and concentrate on him.

Later Sally confides to Gail that she's worried about Kevin, he's missing and no one has seen him. Gail says he's probaly gone to see Natalie, and Sal asks Betty for her number.

Toyah finds the back room of the Rovers a mess again, after the poker game, and tells Duggie that this is her home. He say that it's his too, and she knows what she can do about it if she doesn't like it.

Toyah sees Phil in the Kabin, but he's very offhand with her. She follows him outside the Kabin, and he says she has a nice setup with a house and a job. He says that she has sold out, and Toyah tells him it was all a long time ago, and anyway he got what he wanted, Duggie didn't get te council contracts renewed.

Sam introduces himself to Sinnita, and Deidre comments that he's a stripper. Dev takes Deirdre out to show her the shops, and they congratulate themselves on employing Sinnita full time. They can drink in the Rovers at half past six, instead of being at the shop.

Frank is moving into his cottage in Shropshire, and invites Alma to be the first to stay the next weekend. She says she would love to, and looks forward to looking around the antique shops.

Vic looks gruntled when he invites Bobbi to the picture, but she invite Sinnita along. All changes and they decide to go out for a meal, with Vic paying.

Toyah finds Peter watering down the scotch, he asks her not to tell Duggie, and to keep her nose out. He tells her he'll be able to cover it , with the poker nights. She tells him that Duggie is not fool, and he'll be found out, and to please stop. She asks not to be involved, and comments that it used to be a nice pub, but now it's full of snakes and gambers.

Sam asks Toyah if Peter is giving her a hard time, and he'll sort it out. She tells him it used to be a nice place, but now she just feels like she's in the way. Sam gives her his mobile nos, and tells her to give him a ring, if she's in trouble or fancies a night out.

Adam and Mike arrive back, just stopping Linda on the shopping channel! Linda notices that Adam is calling Mike 'Dad' and ask how long that has been going on. Mike tells her half way through the holiday.

Audrey is canvassing for voters for the elections (which have all been cancelled due to foot and mouth and rescheduled for June), she helps carry Eileen's bags home. Eileen invites her in, and tells her about Jason's trip , and ask if Weatherfiled council can't help out. Audrey says she's sure they can sponsor Jason for such a good course.

Danny brings the number over to Sally and Gail. He tells Gail that it feels like Sally cares more for Kevin, that him, and tells them he's going back to the bar.

Gail tells Sally that she agrees with Danny. Sally confides that Kevin made a pass at her and when she rejected him, he was very upset, and she's really worried he'll do something stupid.

Gail tells her that her concern is too much, and she has to let Kevin go.

Wednesday 11 April

We start at the Baldwin's. Ken has invited Adam over for the day. Mike tries to prevent him from going, as he has to have a check-up at the hospital. But Linda reminds Mike he's had Adam all to himself for 2 weeks and he grudgingly says he can go. Adam arrives at the factory with presents for Ken and Peter. He'd kept this hidden from Mike to avoid hassle. Duggie greets Mike and checks he'll still be drinking in the Rovers. Linda is surprised how well he's taking it, but Mike has a plan for revenge.

Audrey calls on the Grimshaws. She's had a word with the Town Hall about Jason and they'll be glad to help. They have a fund to help young people in the borough travel for educational or sporting purposes. She'll bring the cheque round at 11 and there might be a photographer as well. The family is delighted.

Danny and Sally are discussing Kevin yet again. There's still no news. He suggests she ring Natalie but thinks that even if he is there, he'll tell her to deny it. Danny thinks the whole thing is being done by Kevin to spoil their wedding. Sally assures him it won't work and she won't call or talk about him again. (We don't believe her).

Sam goes into the café with the garage order and chats Toyah up. They agree to go to a gig at the student union on Friday. Toyah doesn't seem interested in him romantically. Frank and Alma are having a cuppa. He's invited her over to Shropshire and wants to make the bedroom arrangements clear so there's no misunderstanding. She'll be in the guest room.

Gail arrives at Sally's for an update. Sally says she couldn't sleep last night for worry and Gail persuades her to call Nat if only to put her mind at rest. She finishes it just as Danny arrives. Did you call? No. I don't believe you. Nat said he wasn't there. (So that promise lasted all of half an hour.)

Audrey has returned with the cheque. Dennis and Eileen both think she's doing this for her own purposes, but they don't care as long as Jason is happy. Unfortunately, he opens the envelope and sees the cheque is only for £35. There's uproar. He slams the cheque back in her hands, calls Audrey a liar and says he hopes she loses. The photographer gets it all on film.

Interval

Peter arrives at Ken's and gets his present, a lurid Hawaiian shirt. Ken got a book on Miami Architecture. He suggests Adam joins him on some trips to the countryside over Easter.

Dennis wonders if they misinterpreted what Audrey had said. Perhaps she only ever meant to give a contribution and they just thought she meant it all. Jason apologies for the way he's behaved towards him and Eileen.

Fred stops at the shop to get some paperwork and we see that Eve is in the car.

Over in the Rover's, Alma wonders if Frank really wants her to visit. Perhaps he's changed his mind and doesn't know how to tell her? In a touching little speech, Frank tells her that whenever he does anything, he wonders what she would think of it and he always tries to remember things to tell her when he goes anywhere nice.

Toyah doesn't feel well and asks Peter if he'll cover. No, he's off tonight. But when she tells Duggie she doesn't feel well, Peter jumps in and offers to cover. (How long before he gets sprung? The sooner the better for me).

Mike meets Fred on his return to the car and offers to buy him a drink. Fred introduces Eve and the three of them go in. She goes to the ladies and Mike gets dragged away by Linda. However, this does give Maxine a chance to notice the new woman.

When Mike collects Adam, Ken congratulates him for the way the holiday went. He can see that it did Adam a lot of good and it can't have been easy for Mike.

Toyah is resting in the back room. Betty comes in looking for Jacques Cousteau (Peter in his loud shirt!)

Sally and Gail go back to her house from the Rover's to give Danny a chance to go out. A policeman arrives looking for Mrs. Webster. They've found Kevin's abandoned breakdown truck.

Friday 13 April

Sally is asking Danny and Dennis where Kevin might be. Danny thinks that it is Kevin's way of winding her up.

Martin comes round to see Danny. He hopes he has a good speech for the stag night. Danny tells him that Kevin's disappearance is on his mind.

Alma says she thinks Audrey maybe lonley while her and Frank go off. Audrey says she will probably go to a country pub with a friend. Then Alma reminds her that she is off to Costa de Sol next week. Audrey says it is council business and she won't be enjoying herself.

Peter tries to persuade Jack and Sam to go for a card game tonight. However Vera has booked Jack into a resturant. Jack thinks he can join the game after the meal. Vera thinks otherwise.

The girls start questioning Sally where Daddy is. She tells them he has gone away for a day or two.

Gail sympathises with Sally and tells her not to worry, particularly when she says she couldn't go through with the wedding if he is not around. Sally summises he just wants to be out of the way until the wedding is over. She wishes he had phoned her.

Maxine tells Audrey that Fred has another lady friend. Audrey wants to know all about her. She thinks the woman will be too young for Fred.

Wetherfield trading standards come to check the drinks at the Rovers. They claim the whisky is watered down.

Peter invites Steve, Vikram and a driver to the card game.

Duggie claims there has been a mistake. He knows nothing about the whisky. Fred comes in and Audrey tells him about the whisky. Fred complains that he keeps getting up at night since Duggie took over. Duggie accuses Toyah, and then sacks her. Peter pretends innocence.

Danny and Sally kiss. He tells her the next time they kiss she will be Mrs Hargreaves.

Vik tries to joke with Duggie about the beer. Duggie says it is ok.

Audrey was hoping Fred would take her to a resturant. Fred says that he has a table booked for him and a friend.

Toyah comes downstairs. Duggie says he thought she was leaving. She says she is, and wants two weeks wages.

Peter puts the finger of suspicion on Toyah with Gina.

At the hen night Sally tries to order a tonic water for herself. Peter won't let her, and says her drink is on her. The rest of the party are talking about Kevin. Rita tells them that he had an affair with Natalie some years ago.

Danny meets Kevin in the street. He winds him up by saying that he is playing games with Sally. They almost get into a fight but Martin tells him to walk away.

Gina tells Duggie that she thinks he is wrong about Toyah. Duggie says he is convinced.

Kevin turns up at the pub. Sally goes over and tells him how worried she was. Kevin tells her that Danny is frighted of him. He says they have some unfinished business. When she denies it and says she is marrying Danny, he reminds her of the night before his wedding to Alison. She slaps him.

Eileen suggests the girls all go onto a club. She will book them a taxi. Sally is not in the mood. Her and Gail go to Gail's house.

Gina tells Les that Duggie has sacked Toyah. He doesn't know anything about it. Les thinks she is old enough to look after herself.

Gail asks Sally about what Kevin said. She reminds her it is not too late to call off the wedding. Sally is worried that Kevin will tell Dan.

Eileen and Maxine are depressed at the pub, without the bride to be. Audrey comes in, and Eileen and Maxine leave.

Jack and Vera come back to the pub after their meal out. Vera mentions to Audrey that Fred was there with his lady. Jack says she was very attractive. Jack asks Gina if the game has started. Vera won't let him go.

The game gets underway. They are talking about women. However Peter is upset that he is £47 down. He is depressed and says that the next woman in his life is going to do things his way.

Kevin sits in a car drinking whisky. He is very depressed.

Sally is still worried that Kevin will tell Danny. Gail tries to reassure her that it will be ok.

At the card game they are all getting drunk. They get onto the subject of Toyah. Peter says she is a cow. Les jumps to her defence. Steve tries to raise the stakes, but Duggie wants to end the game. Peter wants to try and get his money back.

Sam and Toyah come back for the gig in a taxi. They get out and meet Kevin. Kevin tells Sam that women do the dirty on you, love you one minute and then dump you. Sam offers to see Toyah to her door, but she says she'll be alright. He tries to kiss her, but she refuses. She is walking down the alley when someone calls her, and then grabs her.

The closing credits are of her lying in the street but relating what happened (obviously we will see who she was talking to on Sunday!).

Sunday 15 April

Midnight plus. The remains of Danny's stag-nighters are staggering home. Danny nosily puts the key in the door. Later it transpires Kevin was amongst them.

Jason finds Toyah in a battered and confused state in the back alley of the Rovers. She lashes out at him. He tries to reassure her. ( Simultaneously we see Les & Janice in a smoochy mood, he tells her to go on upstairs and he'll follow.) With that there's a knock on the door and Les opens it to find Toyah and Jason. Les hollers for Janice. Jason leaves. Janice wants to know how Toyah got in this state - she doesn't know. Toyah says she was coming back from town having been to see a few bands at the Students Union with Sam. He walked her home. Janice asks if the man in the alley touched her to which Toyah nods "yes" and says it hurts inside. Janice says you've got to remember because that's how they'll catch him "I'm not going to let this happen to you" says Janice. She urges Toyah to think who did this to her, Les goes round to Dr Matt's and urges him to come back to their place. The medical diagnosis is that Toyah's got a knock on the head, she's crying piteously. Janice says it's not easy to sort out. Les comforts Janice. Janice says Toyah's been raped. Dr Matt explains the forensic scene. Toyah says she can't cope. Les says she'll have to and he's calling the police. Policewoman arrives and Les screams that he wants the animal caught. The pc asks for a change of clothes for Toyah. She gives reassurance but wants answers. It's useless because Toyah doesn't know. Toyah and Janice go to the rape suite at the police station. Toyah wants a woman doctor and is assured that's what she'll have. It's suggested Janice waits outside during the examination, Once its over Toyah is told she can shower and dress. As she's not on the pill it's suggested she take the morning after pill. Toyah says that wont guard against Aids. For the remainder of the episode Toyah is back and forth to the police station and as time passes more convinced than ever that life will never be the same again.

Eileen (Jason's Mum) wants to know what's up - he's just sitting quietly on the sofa at home. Jason says Toyah had been mugged and she looked in a right state, he asks his Mum to stop fussing. Later on Eileen tackles him as to why his bloody T-shirt is in the wash, she says he'll have to leave it and not destroy the evidence.

Sam opens up the garage and finds Kev in a heap. Sam says "it didn't go the way he hoped with Toyah". He sees the police car outside the Battersbys and Toyah and Janice getting in,. Les stays behind but tells Toyah to hang in there - Sam is mystified. Later he goes round to see Les. Says they went to the Student Union to hear a few bands, had a cab back and he left Toyah on the corner. He's noticed the police car and wonders what's happening. Les informs him Toyah's been raped and how dare he not see her safely home.

Peter is asleep over a bar-side table in the Rovers where Duggie finds him, obviously with a hell of a hangover. Duggie says start cleaning up and why's the backdoor open and unlocked. Peter says it must be Toyah as she came in after him. He goes into the alleyway and sees the Socos, wants to know what's going on - police tell him everyone will be interviewed and someone's been attacked but not who. Steve and Vic stumble in and Duggie asks if they've had a heavy night. Vic needs aspirin but Norris says lavender oil on the temples is the thing!

At the Baldwins Mike is chatting to a very sad looking Adam. Adam says it was his Mum's birthday and he wants to take some flowers to the cemetery. He's going there with his grandfather (Ken). Adam says Thai food was his Mum's favourite and she loved it. Mike tells Adam he doesn't have to go but Adam is adamant he'll go. He's decided to take irises. Mike says that after the visit he'll take Adam to the Italian place for a meal. Adam says how much he missed his Mum. Naturally since they are twins it's Peter's birthday today too. Ken, Adam and Peter are in the café prior to going to the grave. They are at the graveside for some while whilst Adam tells his Mum all that's been happening. Peter moans that they've been there 30 mins or more. Peter brings Adam back to the Rovers. In the interim Duggie and Mike have been chatting and Mike tells Duggie that it was he that rang Trading Standards and not Toyah. By now they have discovered that Toyah isnt there. Gina suggests Duggie should offer her her job back.

Whilst Danny is recovering from his hangover Sally drops in. He says he's told Ken not to spoil their day. Danny says he should get his head down and Sally tells him how important he is to her. Sally says they should have no secrets. She confesses to sleeping with Kevin on the eve of his marriage to Alison. She whines how sorry she is and it was just one night and a mistake. Danny goes ape "don't touch me" - "how could you do this " Kevin's been laughing at me - what's it all about. Sally repeats that it was once and a mistake and unimportant. Danny asks "why are you telling me?" Sally retorts she wants them to start with a clean slate and that she doesn't want to lose him. He rails at her Cheat! Liar! Unimportant? You've waited a year to tell me. I've no secrets and nothing to hide. You know how I feel I'm sick of Kev ruining things, this should be the happiest day of my life. Sally say she won't let Kev ruin things - "he already has" replies Danny. Sally says we're packed, we're ready to go, he's history don't let him win. Let's get married we don't have to throw it away and I love you, Danny let's leave it all behind us. Later Danny's best man (and his brother) Keiron assures him he's doing the right thing, he checks his pockets for "ring", "speech" indigestion tablets. Danny announces he can't go through with it.

Meanwhile at the Platts the female mafia is getting ready for the marriage. Rosie and Sophie are bridesmaids and Maxine is on hand to do everyone's hair including David's - he's none too keen. They all tell Sally how great she looks and say how "emotions get the better of you". Gail flashes round with the camera, no last minute nerves.

Across the street Kev and Sam are still working on a car at the garage, Kev admits he can't watch. Sally goes over to Danny and discovers he's not ready, he tells her to come in. Danny announces "I can't do this - I can't marry you" Sally replies "but the girls are over the road all ready" Kev bursts in and wants to tell Danny about his night with Sally - Danny indicates that he already knows. They lunge at each other and Keiron breaks them apart. Sally beseeches Danny not to leave her, we can get over this, why you going, this is the last hurdle and we can get over it and leave it all behind us. By now they are on the pavement. Rosie and Sophie go over to Sally. Danny says how lovely they look. Kev and Danny have a punch up. Keiron and Danny leave in a taxi. Sally howls with Gail in attendance. Sally asks Kev if he's satisfied and how he couldn't bear for her to be happy. Screaming " I don't care what you want" she starts attacking him. The girls are rushed indoors by Gail. Sally demands of Kevin "don't you ever touch me again". Indoors Gail talks to the Webster girls and reassures them. Sally is now sitting silently at the table. The girls remove their bridesmaids dresses. Rosie tells Sally (her Mum) not to cry then Rosie and Sophie go with Rita and its suggested that they help Sarah with Bethany

Whilst all this is going on, there's a crowd gathering at the Register Office in full anticipation of the forthcoming nuptials. Norris is pondering that it makes you consider and asks Emily whether she thinks she'll marry again to which she replies "thank you for asking!". Martin is waiting too. The Registrar says he can't hold things up much longer, still no sign of bride or groom. Rita is fretting about Sally, everyone's standing around, the subsequent marriage has taken place and still they stand there. Martin's mobile rings and it's Gail. He's left to announce to the assembled gathering that the wedding is cancelled and no he doesn't know any more than that.

En masse the "wedding guests" adjourn to the Rovers, by now it's common knowledge about Toyah and people are shocked.

Gail and Sally chat and Sally is certain that when Danny's calmed down he'll come back and it'll all be Okay - Gail is less certain.

The policewoman says that she can't know that and most rapes are committed by men the victim knows.

Les tearfully talks with Dennis telling him how upset he is. He thinks he is a crap dad, and can't rely on him. Dennis tells him to try and be strong for her sake.

Friday 20 April
Postponed from Wednesday 18 April due to coverage of England v Germany football match

The show opens in the Battersby living room where a sullen Toyah is sat. There is a knock at the door, it is Geena who gives Toyah a hug and tells her how sorry everyone at the Rovers is to hear about what happened. Toyah reminds Geena that she no longer works there but Geena says that she can have her job back if she wants. Toyah says that she only wants to know who raped her. Geena reassures her and says that they (the police) will catch him.

In the caf, Mr Hartnell from the fostering agency arrives with Roy and Hayley's new foster-child. She introduces herself as Fiz (real name Fiona). Mr Hartnell says that if Roy and Hayley have any problems that they should call him.

Rita and Sally meet. Rita asks Sally how she is coping with what happened. Sally reveals that she isn't opening the shop (that should upset both her customers then.. - Phil) but she is convinced that Danny will come back to her.. Rita on the other hand (like thirteen million viewers) doesn't think so. Sally goes into her house and finds Danny sat at the table. Sally asks if he has come back, but he hasn't and says that they need to discuss the business.

Fiz is looking round her new surroundings at Roy and Hayley's. She is unimpressed with the TV and old stereo and suggests that Roy and Hayley use the money from fostering her to pay for new ones. When Roy says that it would be an unwise way to spend the money Fiz replies that the couple that fostered her last went on holiday to Greece with the money! She helps herself to a banana and tells them that she is a vegetarian and suffers from anaphylactic shock!(thanks to the Medical Dictionary for the spelling on that one)

Back in no 13, Sally is desperately trying to win another chance with Danny but he is having none of it. When she goes to kiss him he tells her to get away from him.

Linda is trying to find something to cook for their meeting with Fred and his new girlfriend that evening. She says that a woman must be pretty desperate to go out with Fred. Adam comes in and Mike advises him not to go near the kitchen when Linda is in!

In the caf, Fiz comes downstairs and wants a bacon sandwich. Roy questions her vegetarianism but Fiz says that she still eats bacon. Hayley comes in from work and Roy mutters to her that Fiz might be a handful. Haylry says that she likes a bit of a challenge.

Back in no.13, the can of lager is out on the table (it is becoming somewhat of a feature in Sally's house..) Sally pleads with Danny not to throw away the two years they have spent together just because she slept with Kevin once. Danny says that she now knows that Sally is devious and manipulative and although her kids thinks she is a martyr, the only person she cares about is herself and he wants out of her life. After he has packed his suitcases he says that he has told the estate agent that they won't be taking the new house and that he either wants to sell the business or have his 12,000 back and with that he walks out of the house for the last time.

In Frank's car, Frank thanks Alma for spending the weekend with him.

Back in the flat, Roy suggests that the three of them eat together at the table for dinner but Fiz just wants to sit in front of the television. She also rejects Roy's idea of them playing a board game together, however she does have a suggestion of what they could all do together - watch her three video tapes of last year's Glastonbury!!

In the Rovers, Frank confesses that he is hating the thought of going back to Shropshire on his own. He asks Alma to move in with him.

Duggie turns up at the Battersbys house (oh-oh..) Toyah as usual is very frosty with him. Duggie says that he is sorry for what he did and says that a job is there for her if she wants it. However when he steps towards Toyah she does the same thing she did when Sam tried to do the same thing - that being, screaming at Duggie and picking up a glass vase.. Duggie is shocked but twigs that her reaction may be because she thinks it is him that raped her. Janice suggests that he leaves and turns round to comfort the once again upset Toyah.

Alma tells Frank that moving in with him would be a good step and she says that she will think about it.

The introductions are made at the dinner party at Mike's, Linda is shocked to see that Fred's new girlfriend is her mother..

Toyah questions if it could have been Duggie that taped her, when Janice suggests that they go and speak to the police again Toyah says that she still can't remember anything.

Back at the dinner party, the mood is frosty after the introductions, Eve compliments the fish paste she is eating only to be told by her daughter that it's actually smoked salmon! Mother Sykes says that Linda has gone up in the world and that she knew that by hook or by crook that she always would. Linda accuses her of calling her a gold digger. At this point Fred says that he is leaving, when Eve offers to go with him he says no and that he doesn't like her company anymore. When she asks what he means he says that he can't be friends with the mother of someone who tried to kill him. Eve is alarmed to find out that Fred was there, and with that Fred leaves..

Duggie after being on the receiving end of Toyah returns to the Rovers saying that Toyah thought it was him. Ashley tells him not to worry as they are taking DNA tests from every man in the street.

Review by Phil Spink

Friday 20 April

We open again in the Battersbys where Les and Janice tell Toyah that they are going back to work, they reassure Toyah that she will be ok.

In the caf, Fiz has her music clearly on upstairs. Vernon comes in and asks after Toyah, Roy says that she isn't back at work yet.

At a table, Adam once again complains that he wants to go back to Scotland but Mike has clearly had enough of the boys' whinging as he tells him to stop moaning.

Roy is going shopping for an anniversary present for Hayley, Fiz overhears this conversation to Vera and says that she will accompany him. Roy however, doesn't want her to and says that choosing a present for someone is a very personal thing. Fiz though takes it in her stride, pinches Roy's cheek and says that she will come so she can recommend a good shop that sells thongs (!!!)

Mike snaps at the continuing moaning of Adam and tells him that he is going to Oakhill school and that is final.

At the police station, Sam is interviewed (once again) by the police. The sergeant comments on Sam's continuing guilty look. Sam says that he feels guilty because if he had walked Toyah home like he should have than none of this would have happened. The sergeant is then informed through a whispering WPC that Sam has already been in for questioning!

Charlie Ramsden calls in on Toyah and asks if she would like some company. Toyah snaps at her and says that if she hadn't have been raped than she wouldn't have given her the time of the day. Charlie seems to take this understandably and tells her that she knows where she is if she needs to talk.

In the Rovers, Fred asks Ashley for his advice on Eve. Ashley says that Fred needs to make his own mind up and that after his performance last night that Eve may already know. At the bar, Duggie puts a jar down for a collection for Toyah. Geena asks if he is feeling guilty, Peter at the bar says that because he is a bloke that Geena thinks he is automatically guilty. With that, a group of policeman come in and take Peter away for questioning. Norris is watching the developments from across the road in the Kabin and commentating the events to the people inside the shop. He has been taking notes and comments that Peter was in for questioning yesterday.

In the meantime, Sally tells Rita that Danny wants 12,000 for his part of the business. Sally asks Rita where she will get that kind of money.. (nudge nudge)

At the police station. The sergeant questions Peter Barlow. She asks him what he is like when he gets drunk. Peter says that it just makes him fall asleep. The sergeant asks him about his split with his wife, he says that they split because she went off with another man. The sergeant has done her research though and questions him about the fact that he used to beat her up. This shuts Peter up.

An estate agent turns up at no 13 to show a couple round, however, Sally is in the house. The estate comments that he thought the house would be empty by now. This enrages Sally who says that it is off the market and orders the people out.

Back at the police station, the sergeant has started questioning Peter on his wife beating past. She reads off a list of injuries she sustained at his hands, Peter predictably doesn't like this and shouts at the sergeant that she has no business snooping into his life, when she says that they would like to take some DNA samples Peter refuses and storms out of the room..

..meanwhile Norris has turned up at the police station and is comparing his notes with the bored looking officer on the front desk. There is a disturbance behind him and a police officer grabs Peter Barlow, the sergeant arrests Peter on suspicion of rape. Norris has seen the whole thing.

Geena informs Ken at the Rovers that Peter has been taken into the police station for questioning.

In no 13, Sally says to Rita that she thinks that Danny will come back. Rita says that just in case he doesn't she has written out a cheque for 12,000 and that she can pay it back whenever she is ready.

In the Rovers, Sam arrives, sees the jar for Toyah's collection and puts some money in it. This raises Vernon's suspicions but Sam is very angry at his comments and reacts furiously saying that he saw Vernon eyeing her up in the night it happened. Duggie appeals for calm saying that they don't know who is guilty yet. On this note, Norris arrives from the police station and reveals to everyone that Peter Barlow has been arrested

..but Peter has been released back at the station. Ken waits for him and gives him a hug when he appears. Peter says that they only arrested him to get a DNA sample from him. Ken says that that will prove he is innocent but Peter reckons they may forge the DNA test results.

Linda and Mike realise that Adam has done a runner from them.

In the Rovers, Norris has seemingly told all and sundry about the arrest. Norris insists that he saw the arrest with his own eyes. He admits to never liking Peter and that he had unnerving eyes (!!!) Duggie reminds the now large crowd at the bar that everyone is innocent until proven guilty (I'm sure he has said this several times before.. - Phil). As Fred turns around at the bar, Eve walks in. She asks him if it was her who held the gun to Fred's head. Fred agrees it wasn't. Eve says that she lost her son while Fred still has his. She regrets missing all her children's upbringing, Fred asks her to stay for a drink. Fred says that what Eve and him had were pretty good, she agrees and the two agree to make another go of it!

Runaway Adam has arrived at (you guessed it..) Ken's house. Ken isn't there though and he is talking through his problems with Deirdre.

Peter and Ken, fresh from the police station returns to the Rovers and orders a drink. Geena refuses to serve him. Peter realises that the news of his arrest has spread and snarls at the regulars in the pub, he accuses them of having sad lives, Geena asks if they are as exciting as raping young women. Peter says that he is not guilty but the people around him have clearly decided that he is. He gets Ken to say that he doesn't think he is guilty. Peter shouts out that the people in the Rovers make him sick!

REVIEW:

Toyah and Peter Barlow have come into their own this week, I know a lot of people have praised Georgia Wilcox but I think Chris Gascoine that plays Peter should be praised as well for his performance particularly tonight.

A humourous if somewhat disturbing, sub-storyline involving Norris collecting his own evidence into who raped Toyah..

I have a feeling the upcoming Alma storyline is going to be a real tear jerker!

Maria, wherefore art thou?!

Sunday 22 April

Rita meets Sally in the street and says she's looking brighter, Sally responds that she's opening the shop and that Danny is coming to see her later. When he arrives he remarks that "its business as usual". She says she'll close the shop, Norris wants some bits and pieces but Sally says "no". Sally has a cheque ready but says it will take a few days to turn into cash for her to make a transfer to his account. He says he doesn't mind having the cheque now. Sally is surprised "don't you want to wait for the cash"? Thanks says he, or should I say "thanks Rita". He's ready for the off but Sally wants him to say goodbye to the girls, she says " they didn't ask for this, they think the world of you, it's breaking their hearts". Reluctantly Danny agrees to say goodbye in person. The girls promise not to be naughty and want to know if he's coming back? It all ends in tears with (as usual) Rosie comforting Sally.

Chez Battersby: Les and Janice and trying to encourage Toyah to go out, saying the fresh air will be good for her. In the end she and Janice go off together. On their return Les announces that he's cleaned the house! Janice suggests they go to the Rovers for their grub, Toyah is not keen. Edna passes and announces that Peter Barlow has been arrested but not charged but that it can only be a matter of time. Janice has to restrain Les who is shouting "scumbag". She tells him not to get involved and to leave it to the police. Toyah comes downstairs and announces that she's unpacked and what's going on? Janice suggests she lies down but Toyah retorts she cant sleep, how about a cuppa? They tell her Les has had a run in with Peter. Toyah says "if it was him, I cant remember I don't know". Les tells her she means the world to him and he cant bear her being hurt.

In the Rovers, Edna and Gina are mulling over the Peter situation. "Always thought he was weird" "no smoke without fire". Dougie intervenes and says Peter is a good barman and should be innocent until proves guilty, he tells Edna and Gina to get on with their jobs. Edna says he's a "low life". Les attacks Peter and tells him to watch his back. Dougie says Peter should stay away until the air has cleared after which (presuming his innocent) he'll be welcome back at the Rovers. Peter stamps off in high dudgeon. Just as Alma is leaving the pub Frank turns up full of apologies for being late, he's had a blow-out on the M6, it was raining and it took time to fix the wheel. He's clutching a bunch of flowers. Later after the meal together he asks Alma if she's an answer for him, she says nothing would make her happier than to move in with him.

Hayley and Roy have now got Fiz as their foster child. She and Hayley go out for the afternoon round the shops doing "girlie" things. That night Fiz does a makeover on Hayley but when she appears to show Roy, he's not impressed. The following evening is Hayley & Roy's anniversary, Fiz has made a vegetarian pasta for them all. Then she goes to her room to listen to music. Roy apologies for his error the previous night says it was insensitive of him but declares to Hayley that she doesn't need masses of clothes and make up to make her look special, because she'll always be special to him.

The police call on Toyah and explain about Peter being arrested for not providing a DNA sample. They assure her that as soon as they have news or concrete evidence, they'll be in touch. Meanwhile at No. 1 Ken is berating Peter for not giving a DNA sample, why on earth not, do you want to make yourself look guilty? Peter complains he can't step outside the front door. Ken says that in such a tight knit community of course people will take sides. Peter: "I didn't do it Dad". Ken: "I believe you son, it's just that after that misunderstanding with Liz...." Adam (who is staying with Ken) comes in and asks Peter to play football with him. "Not just now". Ken does not look as though he's backing Peter. Adam asks Ken a favour "please speak to Dad about Oakhill, I don't want to go there, I want to be back in Scotland". Mike Baldwin arrives and announces he doesn't wasn't Adam anywhere nr Peter. Ken accuses him of trying to control Adam's life, what Adam wants doesn't count. Deidre goes to the Red Rec to collect Adam.

Indoors at the Baldwins. Mike says to Linda that he thinks perhaps Adam should be permitted to go back to his old school in Glasgow. She wonders what changed his mind and he says Ken. They have Adam in and Mike says that despite the fact that he would prefer to have Adam around all the time, he knows in his heart that Adam just wants to try to get back to normality and this could be achieved by his returning to his school in Glasgow. Adam is delighted and dashes off to phone a friend. Mike tells Linda that Peter's been arrested because he wont provide a DNA sample. Mike says in an aside "At least I have never raised a rapist".

Back in the Rovers Sally tells Rita that the split up with Danny is heartbreaking, he wont be persuaded to come back so she's no chance - What can I say says Rita.

Kevin is hunched over the bar and to no-one in particular announces that a big problem in my life has been removed.

Meanwhile Peter drops in at the Battersbys. Les in outraged and all ready to lynch him. Peter says "it wasn't me" and the sooner Toyah gets her memory back the better for all concerned because he's had enough being put in the frame.

Thanks to all of you who sent me such encouraging mails after my last report, just want you to know it was greatly appreciated.

Monday 23 April

Les tells Janice that he should have hit Peter Barlow when he had a chance. Janice says Toyah has enough agro with him.

Sally tells the girls that they have to go with Gail to school. She has to open up the shop.

Fred tells Curly he is lucky he has a good woman.

Roy and Hayley plan for an evening out to celebrate their anniversary. Fiz comes down in her dressing gown saying she is not well. Hayley tells her to go back to bed, and then tells Roy that the meal out has to be put on hold.

Mike has arranged for Adam to go back to his school in Scotland.

Sally's girls and David don't like each other.

Alma invites Gail for a drink this evening.

Janice goes round to see Ken. He says he has sympathies with Toyah. However when she threatens Peter to keep away, Ken says he can't force him, and besides he hasn't done it.

Fiz is on the phone to her friend when Roy comes in. She pretends it is a wrong number and slams the phone down.

Matt tells Gail and the other receptionist that there have been smear test errors. He says that everyone will need to be re-screened.

Ken tells Peter off for going round to Toyah's. He says he should apologise not get aggresive, but Peter says he is being wrongly accused.

Betty and Curly wishes Alma and Frank good luck.

Duggie tells Peter that he shouldn't work at the present time. He asks what he is going to do for money. Duggie offers him a week's wages. Peter is not happy and turns round asking what right people in the pub have to accuse him. He tells Duggie to stuff the job.

Fiz comes down with her coat on. Roy questions why. She says she has to go to the chemist. Roy asks what for, and she says it is for "womens things". She borrows £10 from Roy and goes off.

Adam tells Ken how pleased he is going to go back to Glasgow, and thanks him for persuading Mike.

Frank tells Alma that a lot of people are going to miss her. She says she is going to miss them. However she has no regrets.

Eve tells Fred that she is sorry what happened, but he should remember her son died. Fred drinks to their future.

Sam asks Janice and Les about Toyah. He offers to do anything for her.

Ken comes round to Mike saying everyone saw sense in the end. Adam suggests that Ken comes to Scotland at the weekend with Mike, then he can say goodbye to both of them at the same time.

Sally's girls are being teased by David. Then David pushes one of them and Sally comes rushing over, and tells Gail that he is out of control.

Ken tells Deidre that he is going with Mike and Adam up to Scotland. Deidre says it is one car journey she would like to be in.

Hayley finds Fiz in the corner shop after her miracle recovery. She says she doesn't like being lied to.

Fred apologises to Eve.

Hayley asks Fiz why she lied. She says she didn't feel like school. She storms off. She says they are not her mum and dad. Fiz comes back after a few minutes and apologises to Roy and Hayley. They are going off to meet Frank and Alma in the pub, and Fiz says she will make dinner as an apology.

Mike and Linda congratulate Alma. Alma is not surprised that Linda is pleased.

Sally comes round to Gail to apologise to her and David. She doesn't know what came over her. Apology accepted, and they go off to Sally's, picking up a bottle of wine on the way.

Roy and Hayley come out of the pub to see the cafe on fire. The place is full of smoke. Roy shouts at her and calls her a "silly girl". Fiz says it was an accident. Hayley tells Roy that he has been getting at Fiz ever since she arrived.

For those of you who have not met Fiz she is a large girl (!), looking about 30 rather than a schoolgirl!!! And, if you have not met Frank, he reminds me of Don Brennan.

Wednesday 25 April

Hayley finds Roy clearing up the mess. He's been up since 4:30, but this means they can open as normal. He agreees that he over-reacted and feels he's let Hayley down. But he was scared. She hugs him.

Frank is very happy with his monring. Alma's got a letter from the Health Centre and we know it's about the smear test. They're at Audrey's and Curly arrives with her posters. He's not happy she's swanned off to Spain in the middle of the campaign.

Deirdre has also had a letter and seeks reassurance from Dr. Mat in the street. He says they're just being thorough and there's nothing to worry about.

Fiz comes downstairs and Hayley apologies for Roy. Fiz can't believe she still has to go to school after all she's been through. She nearly died last night and is still in shock (Fiz is a great character, such a drama queen). Roy says it's the law and perhaps a normal routine would be the best way for her to recover. She slopes off.

Still in the café, Mat and Charlie meet Les and ask after Toyah. He asks Charlie to try talking to her again. Mat checks that she does want to become involved. Then Sally arrives and bumps into David. She apologises for her behaviour and offers to treat him to tea at the café after school. She then asks Roy if he's taken a registered letter for her. He suggests she try the sorting offfice.

Sally bumps into Fiz at the bus-stop, not in school clothes. She tells Sarah that Roy's being heavy-handed. Sarah checks that they're talking about the same person.

Kevin meets Sally in the shop and tells her he's got her letter. She goes mad. He thinks he was doing her a favour as she clearly can't cope. She tells him loudly she doesn't want his help and she wants him to stay away from her. (Kevin seems to be yet another completely different person).

Fiz is back at the café having her lunch and getting sympathy. Peter is also there, fed up of everyone staring at him. He has a go at Sam, how does he know it wasn't him? Social services arrive for Fiz. She's made an allegation against Roy and has to be removed for her own safety. She claims that Roy has hit her.

Charlie goes round to talk to Toyah and says again she knows how she's feeling. Toyah doesn't believe her, but then Charlie reveals (as we all suspected) that she's been raped too.

Interval

Roy says he's never hit anyone in his life. Hayley is in tears. Fiz will be examined by a doctor and then they'll come back and talk to them.

Toyah wants to know if Charlie's rapist was found. Yes, it was one of her university lecturers. It went to court and he got off. But she won, as she wasn't the one who had to resort to violence. She looked him in the eye all through the trial and he couldn't look back at her. And his wife saw that. She did the same at this lectures and finally he left. She wouldn't be a victim to someone so weak, pathetic and perverted.

Sam calls but Charlie sends him away. It's different for Toyah though, she can't remember anything and so can't fight back. Charlie says it will take time but she's strong and better than her attacker, whoever it was.

Mike chats to Frank at the bar and buys him and Alma a drink. He's very happy for them and calls Alma a special lady and makes Frank assure him he'll look after her. Alma means a lot to him (???) He whispers, Be happy darlin, under his breath.

Back in the café, Roy is getting the orders wrong. He can't understand why Fiz would make such an accusation. He leaves.

Phil Simmons arrives at the Rovers and asks for Toyah, then Duggie. Frank checks again that Alma really does want to move. It means leaving all her friends. Phil asks Duggie for £1000 to settle out of court. It's refused. He makes a snide comment about Toyah and is shocked to hear about the rape.

We learn that Audrey has prolonged her visit in Spain and is expecting Curly to start on the door-to-door stuff.

Sally has put a card in the Kabin for help in the shop. Dennis suggests to Jason that he answer it. Not too sure, working for a woman? David is having his tea with Rosie and Sophie in the café. He says it's a one-off to show there's no hard feelings.

Ken is still trying to buck Peter up. But he's in a deep depression and talking of leaving (hooray!). He can't even go in the pub (his only source of entertainment). Ken can see another family member slipping away from him.

A reporter from the Gazette arrives at the Health Centre. She's doing a story on the smear scare. It's a major cover-up at the hospital. Who's to blame? Are his patients at risk? But Mat refuses to answer these inflammatory remarks. He says there's no scare unless they create one and leaves.

Sally tells the girls she has to work in the shop tonight. But David has already filled them in. He's told Rosie that when your parents split up they don't have time for you any more and she repeats this to Sally. (but Kevin and Sally have been split up for years. Surely the girls have their own experience to draw on, they don't need David's words of wisdom). Sally denies this. Rosie hits back. You get rid of Dad and when we get to like Danny you get rid of him too.

Toyah returns from a walk. Les is pleased and asks if she spoke to Charlie.

Roy is fretting. He feels out of his depth and worries that he'll go to prison. Hayley assures him they'll discover the truth. They never thought fostering would be straight-forward. But Roy has lost heart and thinks he now sees that fostering isn't for him. He doesn't understand how a child operates and isn't the right sort of person to be a foster parent.

Friday 27 April

Jason tells his mother that he might take a job working with Sally in her shop.

There is a bad atmosphere at the cafe with Hayley and Roy. Roy says they failed with Fiz. He thinks once the social services have heard from Fiz they won't want them to foster again.

Janice walks by Peter in the street and ignores him.

Sally's kids have invited David around for tea this evening.

Curly is talking to Emma about Audrey's election campaign. He says she goes by her personality but no policies.

Toyah comes into the cafe and apologises to Roy. He tells her there is nothing to apologise about, and she can be away as long as she wants. She is then stopped by Vera and Duggie in the cafe. She is getting very aprehensive, and can't wait to get out.

Jason goes round to see Sally. He says he has worked in a shop, but not a DIY shop. Sally is not convinced. When he says he realises she is desparate, Sally tells him to get lost.

Matt is annoyed at the local paper that suggests that Wetherfield women are in a cancer scare. It suggests that the doctors are incompitent.

Peter comes round to the house with his DNA result. She won't let him in, despite him banging on the door and window. She runs out of the house frightened, and bumps into Phil her ex-lodger friend. Peter insists that she should tell everyone that he is innocent, the results prove he didn't touch her.

Jason tells Dennis that he didn't get the job. He wonders what Jason said to get a response of not being desparate.

Phil takes Toyah to Janice in the factory. She is still upset.

Peter tells Duggie that he is celebrating. Duggie winds up Duggie saying that he is the only man that can prove he is not the person involved. However anyone else could be guilty. Peter shows his results to Les. Peter offers to buy him a drink but Les storms out.

Sarah asks Roy and Hayley what happened to Fiz. Hayley explains that she said nasty things about Roy. Sarah says she told her that she was going to do something like this. She offers to speak to social services.

Deidre and Vera are waiting at the doctors for their test. Charlie and Janice are there as well. Janice tells Charlie about Peter's results. Charlie says she will come round later.

Peter the social worker comes round and tells Roy and Hayley that Fiz has done this before. There is no blame on him. Peter says it should not put them off. He says that they were wrong putting Fiz with them. He asks if they wish to continue fostering, and they agree to continue.

Sally asks Gail about the letter she received about the smear test. Gail says there is nothing to worry about.

Eileen asks Jason about the job. He is annoyed that he didn't get the job.

Les and Janice say they have to concentrate on looking after Toyah.

Peter tells Ken that he is going to be stuck in a car for three hours each way with Mike Baldwin. Peter goes over to Les and Janice in the bar saying he waits for an apology. He asks who their new prime suspect is. He is understandbly angry. He asks them if he decided to suicide because of the accusation.

Charlie brings a bottle of wine round to Toyah. Toyah still says she can't remember anything. She says she would like it to have been Peter because everyone else thought it was him. At least it would put her mind at rest. She is worried she may go through the rest of her life not knowing.

Sunday 29 April

Tonight's episode opens at the Baldwin luxury apartment. Adam is busy packing, Linda is aghast at the amount of clothes a boy needs to go to boarding school and Mike's not keen on having Ken as a car passenger. Very sensibly Linda is not joining the expedition to take Adam back to his old school in Glasgow. They load up the car and drive round to Grandfather's. Deirdre says goodbye to Adam and Ken, Peter says goodbye to Adam. Ken allows Adam to travel in front and takes his place in the back of the car. Mike announces that he's not very chatty on a journey and Ken responds that will suit him fine because he can just read his newspaper. On arrival at the school in Glasgow Ken gets out of the car stiffly. He and Mike unload a huge amount of luggage and make their way to Adam's dorm. Mike wants a word with the headmaster, a Mr Fraser. Ken wishes to join him. Once in Mr Fraser's office, the headmaster says how deeply shocked the school were at the death of Adam's mother. Mike says they need to look to the future and despite his own personal feelings he had agreed to Adam's wish to return to his old school. Mr Fraser assures him that the school will be keep a close eye on Adam and be in regular contact "with you and your father" (shock horror Ken is being assumed to be Mike's father). Mike explains that Ken is Susan's father. He also tells Mr Fraser that he's available 24hrs a day and if there's anything Adam needs he's to have it, and if the school need cash for Adam then call and the cheque'll be in the post. In grandfatherly mode Mike asks Ken if he needs the toilet before they travel back! Mike and Ken say their separate goodbyes to Adam, Mike says that Adam has all the nos. and why not call Linda now? Ken whispers that they will keep in touch via e-mail. Ken climbs into the front of Mike's car and they head back. When the pull up in Coronation St, Mike (jokingly) says that he won't be asking Ken for half of the petrol money. Very seriously Ken says to Mike that he appreciates that Mike has got Adam's best interests at heart and that Ken will no longer be challenging the Custody Order. Mike says he's pleased to hear it and let's go and have a drink. It is generally agreed that it's the best thing for Adam and at least they can all have access to him. Linda is in the pub. Ken tells Peter the news and he becomes argumentative and sneeringly asks Mike if he's come to celebrate.

Another storyline that develops during the episode is Curly and Emma canvassing on behalf of Audrey (who's presently on Spain on "Council" business! They start at the Duckworth's and get short shrift, Vera says she never votes and Jack says he certainly won't be voting for Audrey when he hears she's in Spain. After that door-stopping Curly suggests to Emma that no mention be made of Audrey's absence in Spain. They try Eileen and Dennis, whose reaction is that all Audrey's ever done for them is too little too late and no they wont be voting for her. Later as Emma and Curly relax in the Rovers Charlie says why doesn't Curly become a Councillor, because he'd be good, Emma agrees and says he'd be 100x better.

Sam is in the Rovers wondering when he'll get his DNA results, Dougie even knows what DNA stands for. Norris wants half o' bitter and reminds everyone it's Census Day today and you'd better get your forms filled in and posted back.

Sally is in the Kabin talking to Rita, says she's needs some chocolate for the girls as a reward for them tidying their room(s). Norris rabbits on about Census Forms. Says he sees them as a giant mosaic. As Sally is walking back Dennis asks if he can have a word. He wonders whether Jason got all cocky and loud mouthed when he came to see her about the job. Sally concurs but says she's thought some more. Dennis builds Jason up as an honest hard working lad. Sally accompanies him home and apologies to Jason and wonders whether he'd like the job after all. Jason demurs. Dennis takes him aside and says now look here lad just say thank you and accept Sally's offer. A job's a job. Sally continues on her way having agreed for Jason to start at 9am the next day. The scene shifts to Sally asleep on the sofa at home. Kev and the girls appear. Sal wakes up and mutters it's not easy, I've so much to do what with the girls and the business. Kev says that if it's too much.... She retorts "you're coming round is too much". "I might have been OK with Danny". Kev mumbles that as usual its all his fault is it? Must be nice to have someone else to blame. Sally rants "will you never leave me alone?" Kev retorts that whilst the girls are growing up etc he will always be around, don't blame him, just get used to it.

Now to the main storyline. Toyah. We first see her answering the phone at home - the police rang but they haven't any news but will be in touch if things change. Janice if off to visit her Mum and suggests Toyah come too. Toyah says no. Janice encourages her to eat and try to take her mind off it. Emma and Curly appear canvassing but Janice says she cant think about voting right now and goes off to visit her Mum. Emma and Curly realise that perhaps canvassing Janice was not the best idea. A knock at the door. It's Charlie wondering whether Toyah would like some company and a chat. Charlie assures her that when people look at Toyah they don't automatically think "that's the girl who was raped", they think, oh! There's Toyah, or there's the girl who works in the pub. 5 minute wonder and they'll all go back to worrying about something else. She asks if Toyah has revisited the scene? Toyah answers by saying that it's all right for Charlie at least she knew the man who raped her and knew who he was. All Toyah has is a faceless man going round in her head and he's still out there and she doesn't know who he is. Toyah realises that on the night the man called her name out to attract her attention in the alleyway. The two of them go off to the rape scene and Charlie assures Toyah they will come back if it's too much. Slowly the girls retrace Toyah's steps. Sam comes up and chats - Toyah stiffens. He says that he blames himself for leaving her but she says it's not his fault - see you around. Charlie comments on how frightened Toyah was when Sam approached. Toyah says the man who raped me called my name, I got to here, then I heard footsteps and then he hit me. She dissolves into tears and is hugged better by Charlie. When they get back to the Battersbys Charlie says she hasn't really been much help and at least she never had nightmares about faceless men. Toyah concludes that she sort of knows the voice but she'd need to hear it again to identify it. Charles tells her not to worry and that it will all come back. Charlie departs.

Later, Charlie again knocks on Toyah's door, this time to ask if she'd like to come for a drink having first checked that Toyah is still home alone. Toyah confirms that Janice is not yet home but says she won't be long and no ta she doesn't feel like a drink just now. Charlie leaves. The phone rings. Toyah picks up the receiver and says "hello" - heavy breathing is heard, she says she's going to put the receiver down, which she does. We are treated to a shot of a man's feet in shiny black shoes existing a phone box. Fade out.

Mail subscribers will be pleased to know that Richard will be back next week. I will be away then but still able to watch The Street. Wonder if the bookies are quoting odds on "who raped Toyah Battersby?"

Monday 30 April

Gail is handed a letter and looks quite dumbfounded..she later tells Molly that it's her decree absolute, and she hasn't made her mind up how she feels yet. Her and Martin have had a lot of water under the bridge. Evertone was bothered about the age gap, except her and Martin, and they loved one another. Gail and Martin bump into one another in the street, and Martin asks if she got her letter. he asks her if she'stold the kids, and she's says not. She invite him for tea one day, and he invites her out for a drink, they go off to the Rovers together.

Les tells Toya to look after herself, and Janice tells her she's only over the road. Toyah tells her about the strange phone call the night before, there was no one there, but she knew it was him. Janice asks why she didn't say anything, and offers to phone in sick, but Toyah says she'll be fine, and checks the door is locked after Janice leaves.

Audrey arrives back from Spain, and tells Alma they should have a girls night in. Alma says yes, then tells her she's leaving, to move in with Frank and live in Shropshire. Audrey says she's only known him five minutes. Alma says it's only Shropshire, not Siberia and there's a chance Frank might make her happy.

Duggie has got his test results back and they are negative. Edna comments that there's not a woman safe until the man has been found. Peter apologises to Les about going to see Toyah with his test results. He wants to apologise to toyah for his beahviour. Les tells him if he goes anywhere near her, he'll break every bone in his body.

Janice bumps into Phil in the street, and thanks him for saving Toyah from peter Barlow. he tells her he's flat hunting, and thought to call on Toyah. Janice tells him Toyah's not up to it, but thanks for thinking of her.

Audrey goes into the Rovers, and Betty tells her it's no wonder that Audrey wants re-elected, all the freebies that go with council business. Audrey blusters that it was a deserved few days break, but no one is listening.

Denis observes Sam is gazing wistfully over at Toyah's house. Denis asks him in the Rovers what's on his mind. Sam tells him it was the look on Toyah's face when she saw him in the ginnell, he really likes her and wants to get to know her better. Denis advised to leave things alone for now.

Phil knocks on Toyahs door, he tells her he though a bit of a chat might cheer her up. She reluctantly lets him inside. Sam comes out of the pub, and she's Phil going inside, and loos sad that he's been warned off going to see Toyah.

Phil tells Toyah that he's dropped his case against Duggie Ferguson, after hearing what had happened to her. He tells her you have to do some things right now and again. Toyah smiles wsitfully, and says he reminds her of Spider, Phil comments that he was a nice bloke, and takes hold of her hand. The camera pans down to Phils's shoes, which are the same distinctive black and white shoes of the annoymous caller the episode before. Now we know who our rapist is!

Alma goes in to see the Dr. He asks her is she has any bleeding, and she looks quite startled when she agrees she has. He tells her there's agrowth on the neck of her womb, and it could easily be nothing, but it would be best to get it checked by a consultant as soon as possible. Alma agrees.

Curly at last sees audrey and comments on her swanning around Spain, while he's doing all the work. She tells him that he is her campaign manager, but she's ready to start now. He tells her that's just as well , as there's a public address on wednesday, and he wants her then.

Audrey witters onto Alma about politics, and that all the public are interested in is Schools, Roads and Bins - she should know she learned from the master - Alf. Alm shouts at her to stop wittering on, but doesn't tell Audrey the real reason she's on edge, she tells her it's the move to Shropshire that's causing it.

Duggie offers Peter Barlow his job back in the Rovers.

Toyah tells Phil that she was sure it was peter barlow who raped her, but that it could be anyone, and what if they never find him, she never saw him , she just heard his voice, he could next to her at the bus stop or pictures and she wouldn't know it was him.

Phil brings through a cup of tea he's made, and Toyah offer shim a biscuit. He shouts through to her, Toyah, and Yoyah freezes at the sound of his voice. She offers to buy the biscuits at the corner shop, but he can see she's on edge and asks what the problem is. Toyah rallys at him, screaming at him to stay away, he tries to calm her, but she says she'll phone the police, and they'll take his DNA sample. He grabs her and covers her mouth to stop her screaming. Meanwhile, Peter Barlow comes out of the Rovers and heads upto Toyah's house, he knocks and waits.

Phils has Toyah's mouth covered and hge tells her he thought they were friends, and it was her fault it happened, she shouldn't have sided with Duggie Ferguson. Toyah breaks free,a nd starts screaming. Peter , at her front door, start kicking the door in, as Janice comes out of work. Thinking he's after Toyah, she rushes over, screaming that he'd better leave her baby alone. Peter races in, and Phil runs out the back, but Peter catches up with him in the back yard. Phil screams at peter several times not to hit him, but Peter just wallops him anyway. Janice is left cuddling Toyah in the houyse as she cries onto her mother's shoulder.

So know we know!!
