And so without any further ado, here we go with this week’s Coronation Street update.

Ken's fallen out with Deirdre and moved in with Steve where he wafts around in his kimono and apologises to Steve for waking him up in the night: "My bladder's not what it used to be." Ooh, too much information there, Kenny-boy.  He then tidies up Steve's kitchen, plays classical musical, uses a cafetiere and offers to cook lentil stew for Steve. He also tries  - and fails – to get Steve interested in his healthy eating pamphlet. You just know Ken's the sort of bloke who likes a little pamphlet.  So it's all a bit of a relief to Steve when the Barlows kiss and make up and Ken moves back home to his wife.   Mind you, Ken's also taken to working the Streetcars switch as Fat Brenda's gone on her bikini body bootcamp. And that's one exercise DVD  on my Christmas list already.

Over at the salon, Audrey gets the locks changed to keep David out as he refuses to sign the salon back over to his gran so she can swan off on cruising with Lewis. He's a charmer, that Lewis and has Sylvia all a-flutter in Roy's Rolls when she's serving him his eggs and mushrooms on toast. "They're fresh woodland mushrooms,"she coos across the table. And I don't know about you but since when has there been a forest in Freshco?  Anyway, egged on by Kylie, David sees a solicitor for advice about his share of the salon and of course, what Audrey's doing is neither legal nor moral and the stress of it all is putting the vapours up the fragrant Mrs. Roberts.

Left alone to look after Lesley, Eileen loses her when Lesley and little Amy pal up and decide to go to the park.  Paul's at his wits end and loses his temper with Eileen and it's left to Steve to find both of them and bring them back to the Street. It's clear that Paul can't cope with the stress of looking after his wife and Eileen can't cope with having a relationship that's neither here nor there. Something has to give and when Paul snaps at Lesley and almost hits her when she tears up their wedding photos after not recognising herself as the bride, he realises then it's time to think about residential care for his wife. This is such a sad storyline, and ringing very true.

Meanwhile, Tyrone's feeling loved up because Kirsty's spent a day not being too nasty to him or about his good mates. She tells Tina she hopes they can be friends but Tina's not sure, even when Kirsty lays it on thick about her ex-boyfriend betraying her and that's why she finds it so hard to trust Tyrone's female friends.  Tyrone does a wonderful impersonation of Jack Duckworth this week as he's walking out of the pub and back down the Street.

Kevin's over the moon when Sally's released from th'ospickle and is back safe at home. He tends to her needs and tells Sophie that he'll do anything to have his family back again. But what about little baby Jack who's been forgotten about and not mentioned for months?

And over at the Rovers, Karl's gambling habit spirals out of control and he nicks the takings from the pub to gamble at the casino in a vain attempt to win some cash to pay off his debts. In between nicking and gambling, he's also flirting with Sunita who's lapping up the attention after being starved of some good loving from her fella at home.

And so without any further ado, here we go with this week's Coronation Street update.

Stella throws Karl out of the Rovers this week, tells him he's shattered her lifelong dream of running the Rovers, and then she takes him back again. That's not a feisty, strong, Coronation Street woman, that's just soft in the head. She chucks him out when she finds out he's up to his neck in debt to the tune of twenty grand which he's gambled away. He's also playing away, sleeping with Sunita. While Dev and the kids are on their jollies in Spain, Sunita gets her jollies on the sofa with Karl. The two of them are Billy-no-mates so they've got a lot in common. Anyway, Stella moans a bit, takes Karl back and he promises never to lie to her again while giving the camera that Corrie classic over the shoulder look that says more than five pages of script.

There's sad news for Tommy this week when he finds out his granddad Jeff Horton has died. The Hortons, you'll remember, are the couple who brought Tommy up in Blackpool. Anyway, Tommy has a hard time dealing with his grief but copes by jumping into bed with Tina after she falls for 10 bunches of cheap flowers from Dev's. Then he offers to whisk Tina away on a round the world trip via Rosamunde Street after he finds out granddad Jeff left him twelve grand in his will. And you know it won't be long before that bit of news reaches Tommy's dad RTereh.

Peter and Leanne's relationship disintegrates further this week when Peter gets a letter from Leanne's solicitor saying she's going after custody of Simon. The couple try mediation but end up bickering and Peter walks out. Then they try, courtesy of Carla who has suddenly turned into quite the peacekeeper, letting Simon spend time with Leanne. This has the required effect of little Simon repeating Leanne's words back at the flat. "What's a Black Widow?" he asks his dad and then he turns his face away with a smirk, knowing full well what he's gone and said.

Carla's got more on her mind than cheeky kids this week though, when Sally offers to buy Frank's share of the factory when it comes up for sale. While Carla doesn't need the aggro of working alongside Sally who'll be all jumped up in her Marksies power suit, she does need the money so has to keep Sally on side, for now.

And so without any further ado, here we go with this week's Coronation Street update.

There was sad news this week when Gordon Clegg turned up to break the news of Betty's death.  Rita's in tears in the Rovers when Gordon gives her the answer to her question when she asked how Betty was: "She's dead, Rita." Emily helps Gordon form filling at the council and everyone gathers at the Rovers for a farewell bevvy to barmaid Betty. Thankfully, Corrie had the good sense and decency not to involve St. Ella in this storyline and Steve offered to help out behind the bar: "For Betty”.  But when the Rovers regulars find out that Gordon's intending to have Betty buried down in that London, they're up in arms and rightly so.  It's left to a gently, coaxing, teary-eyed Rita to persuade Gordon to do the right thing and give her a send off in style, in Weatherfield. It's what she would have wanted.

Meanwhile at the factory, Carla sets her perma-grin to max when Sally tells the girls and Sean that she's going to be buying Frank's share of Underworld when they come up for sale. "In a lot of ways,"she muses, "I'm the answer to Carla's prayers."And soon she could become her worst nightmare. As Sally fusses over the frillies and gurgles over gussets, Michelle and Carla swap looks over the sewing machines, looks that suggest Sally's stash of cash will be more welcome in the factory office than Sally ever will.

With a bob or two in his pocket now that Grandad Jeff Horton left Tommy money in his will, Tommy rushes out and splashes the cash on a clamped out campervan, ready to take Tina touring all over the world. It's fair to say that the campervan needs a bit of attention and Tina's not taken with touring, not yet. Anyway, the van's parked next door to the Bistro and Owen's getting a froth on because it's blocking his entrance into the unit that's just been rented by a fella who's hired Owen to work inside. So, the said fella turns up, all beefy and dark. The sort of fella that would be tall, dark and handsome if he was handsome, the sort of fella that uses his fists to sort Tommy out when his campervan won't move.  Tommy's hit to the ground just as Tyrone rushes over to see what's going on and the shock on Tyrone's face says it all.  "Do you know who this is?"Tommy asks Tyrone. "It's yer dad!"Tyrone replies, as Terry Duckworth makes his unwelcome appearance back on the Street.  And if ever you've wondered who did eat all the pies, I think we know now it was Terry, who's being played by Brian Blessed.

Down the Street, the silly salon war continues with Audrey and David at odds, mainly because of Kylie winding things up between grandson and gran. Audrey tries to run her business from Mary's motorhome and heaven only knows if there was hair clippings left on Mary's muu-muu.  The battle of the barbering continues apace and causes no end of stress for Audrey, who gets arrested and questioned at the cop shop and given an harassment order to stay away from her own shop. Poor Aud. Kylie's even had Owen take down Audrey's sign. Alma must be spinning in her grave.

Mind you, at the Barlows' there are secrets being kept as Ken allows Leanne to spend time there with little Simon. Peter's against it but what he doesn't know won't hurt him, for now any road.

And so without any further ado, here we go with this week's Coronation Street update.

It's Betty's final farewell this week on Corrie. She wanted 'Joyous' and so black was banned and colours were in as memories were recalled and eyes filled with tears in the wake at the Rovers Return. Gordon gives a heart-breaking speech, reading a letter Betty penned just a week before she died, and Betty's photo in her frame presides on the bar as friends and customers raised a glass in her memory. But Betty's passing doesn't go without ruffling a few feathers, well, it's what she would have wanted. First off, Rita and Emily find a letter in Betty's house when they're clearing out her stuff. It's a letter from Annie Walker in 1984 bequeathing the Rovers Return to Betty in Annie's will. It's a bequest that Betty had clearly turned down but sends St. Ella into a tailspin wondering if the pub's rightly hers. Sadly, it still is. The second secret Betty leaves behind is an envelope with her secret hotpot recipe inside and for some unknown reason, she leaves it to Sean. He can't cook to save his life and tries and fails to knock up the hotpot only to cock it up. And then he only goes and drops the recipe into the dish, soaking it through. Has Betty's recipe really gone for good? She should have left it to Roy – who would have treasured it and kept Betty's memory burning bright. And the scene that brought a lump to my throat came when Norris totted up Betty's paper bill in the Kabin, brought the unpaid paper bill up to date with money from his own pocket and then wrote, very carefully, very neatly, very Norris, next to her name: Account Closed.

Elsewhere this week terrible Terry plays a wonderful pantomime villain who makes you want to boo and hiss every time he's on screen. He takes Tommy under his wing by telling him lies that Tommy knows nowt about. Tyrone (or as Terry likes to call him: Tirrrrrrroan) knows how evil Terry can be but Tommy's just glad to have his dad around and the fact that he gets a decent storyline at last. Terry ramps up the tension between Tommy and Tirrrrrrroan until they come to blows and Tommy jacks his job in at the garage to work for Terry's new lapdancing club – Se7enth Heaven - on Viaduct Street. The residents rebel when they hear of Terry's venture with Norris pointing out that they don't want mucky women turning the Street into a den of iniquity after a lapdancer comes into the Rovers and goes through her raunchy routine for Terry at the bar. "She could have had someone's eye out with that bosom," Norris complains. Determined to put a stop to the building work going on in the lapdance club, Rita, Norris, Emily, Roy and a couple of the young 'uns set up camp inside the unit and determine not to be moved until Terry backs off. "We've got a rota, you know!" yells Norris through the door to Terry, who's bemused by the sight of the senior sit-in. "Never underestimate the power of a rota!"

Over at the factory, Sally goes all giddy kipper getting ideas above her station when she gatecrashes a meeting that Carla's got with a customer in the Bistro. "You need to open your mind!" she tells Carla who retorts: "And you need to keep yer gob shut!". Not only is Sally's gob well and truly shut, it's gobsmacked when Carla finds out that Frank's left his Underpants, sorry Underworld shares to her in his will so she'll not be needing Sally's money after all. Sally sulks back to her sewing machine, skulks home to the sofa and after a glass of wine with Kevin, the Websters have a snog. Oh, silly Sally.

Meanwhile, Peter finds out that Ken's been letting Leanne see little Simon behind his back and over the road. Peter's not best pleased, as you can guess, and goes storming into Ken's, arguing with Leanne and making Simon cry. But Peter won't be moved and drags Simon home with him telling him that he won't be seeing Leanne any more. "Grandad said you've fallen out of love with Leanne," says Simon, in tears. "I have, yes, it's a grown-up thing," replies Peter before Simon goes: "Well it's a kid thing too, because I've fallen out of love with you!".

Poor Audrey, though. She has a heart attack this week after the salon war reaches breaking point and she ends up in th'ospickle strapped to machines with tubes everywhere. David blames himself and feeling guilty for causing such grief to his granny, he pops into see her but she's having none of it. She doesn't rant and rave at his presence. Much worse, in a very quiet voice, she simply tells her grandson: "Go away, David. Go away." Unexpectedly, Audrey's illness looks like bringing together Gail and Lewis as they join forces to protect Audrey from David and Kylie stealing the salon. Oooh, just watch, I bet Lewis will be after Gail soon.

And so without any further ado, here we go with this week's Coronation Street update.

It's been all go at Weatherfield General this week. First up is Audrey who's recovering well and sitting up in best Marksies nightie in th'ospital bed with tubes up her nose. She wants nowt to do with David who's feeling so guilty he wants the old salon sign put back up. Kylie's not best pleased and does what sister Becky would have done, she goes out and gets bladdered with a couple of lads. Then she ends up in the Bistro, drunk and dancing on the tables and thumps David across the chops when he blames her for Audrey's heart attack. And that's the last we'll see of Kylie for a while as she takes little Max and moves out.

A short walk across the wards we've got Julie and Brian having their 12 week baby scan and Julie's all excited in her special Julie way. But there's bad news as the ultrasound doesn't show a baby! Julie's not pregnant at all. She does, however, have a growth on her ovary which will need an operation and she drowns her sorrows and baby hopes and wishes in the Rovers with a large brandy or three. Brian's by her side and tries his best to support her in that special bloke way: "Everything'll be all right." Julie's not so sure.

Over at Se7venth Hea7en, Terry's having trouble as the locals stage a sit in. Determined to keep their spirits high, they order in food from Roy's Rolls and have a sing along, with a classic Corrie moment when Norris, Mary, Anna and a reluctant Roy do a wonderful version of Bohemian Rhapsody. I'm loving this storyline. Terry's a pantomime villain and the dame all rolled into one, oh yes he is, and there have been some comedy moments and quite touching scenes too as Tommy tries and fails to find the hero he thinks is inside his dad's rather portly frame. But Kirsty reckons there's summat dodgy going on between Terry and Weatherfield Council as his planning permission for the lap-dancing club has been given too quick and too easy and sure enough, it's been greased along by a corrupt Councillor. Pretending she and Tyrone are coppers "Come on, Dobbs!" they get into the councillor's office and find him there with Terry. The plot thickens. It gets even thicker when they find out that the Councillor's new, shiny and expensive Mercedes Benz is registered in Terry's name and Kirsty sends the info to her mates in CID. Is this the end of Terry's plan to put strippers on the Street?

Over at the Rovers, Sean's having trouble with Betty's hotpot recipe. However closely he follows the recipe, the hotpot doesn't taste as good as when Betty used to make it and he's at a loss to explain where he's going wrong. When he delivers a batch of hotpot to the Rovers, Tina knows what the missing ingredient is and pours in a whole bottle of stout. "I've seen Betty do that a million times." A wonderful touch.

Meanwhile, Kevin thinks he and Sally are back together again but Sally's not so sure. Sally tells Kevin she loves him but can't love him as much as she wants to because he loves baby Jack, who's got shifty eyes. Sally says baby Jack is a constant reminder of Kev's infidelity and she can't live with it. I would have thought that looking at Kevin would have been a reminder of Kevin's infidelity but it looks like she's choosing to blame the baby instead. And what a shifty-eyed looking baby that is. Sally has a moan and a cry on Rita's well padded shoulder and then Kevin comes with a cunning plan. He'll offer shifty-eyed baby Jack to Pam and Bill and then he and Sally can live happily ever after. Hmm, I wonder.

Elsewhere, the uncomfortable alliance of Sunita and Karl sets my teeth on edge every time they're on screen together at the same time. And so when Dev announces he's taking Aadi away on a kiddie golf game and needs to stay overnight, Sunita strumpets the news to Karl who fixes his face with his Cheshire cat grin and this fan tries hard not to vom.

And finally this week, the Weatherfield in Bloom competition kicks off and Mary motors into action. She hangs hanging baskets up whether folk want them or not and thumbs seed catalogues when she babysits little FAYe. Anna's left her with FAYe as she's started her evening job in Dev's shop and it's not long before Mary's made FAYe swap her computer game for polishing her boots. Love it!
