Leanne and Simon’s relationship nosedives this week when he kicks her and there’s blood all down her leg. Then she pushes him and he falls and there’s blood all over again, a visit to A&E and six stitches in his arm. Leanne almost comes clean to grandad Ken and tells him what’s going on, but neither she nor Simon have the courage to tell the truth. At Simon’s birthday party in the Bistro, he nicks a bottle of vodka for his mates and they all get quite drunk. For now, Leanne tries and fails to be a good mum as Simon rebels and goes through puberty, hitting out and hitting her. It’s horrible to watch but well played by all.

Andrea left this week after nicking one of Lloyd’s Northern Soul records that’s worth a thousand quid. Andrea’s daughter Jess, who we’ve never seen, is in debt overseas and needs money quick. It’s money Andrea hasn’t got and so she nicks and sells one of Lloyd’s prized possessions. He finds out, of course, and before he can tell her to pack her bags and sling her out, she packs and leaves. I’ve never seen the point of Andrea and always thought her and Lloyd ill-matched and therefore I won’t miss her. She’ll be back for the live Corrie episode in September, which seems a shame.

Sally starts planning her wedding this week and ropes Rita in. Meddling Mary invites herself too and armed with her wedding planning book, she dumps herself at Sally’s table with her daft ideas and romantic intentions.  Mary’s wedding book is the same one she used when she interfered in Hayley’s wedding plans. There was something creepy about it coming out of the closet back then, it’s sinister spinster overtones made even worse nowit’s made a reappearance.

Over at the Barlows’ Tracy and Robert grow close. She invites him to move in at No. 1 and railroads Ken, overcoming his objections. Tracy finds out that Deirdre left Amy and Simon forty thousand pounds each in her life assurance policy and nothing for her. She pretends she’s not put out about this, but it’s all part of her act of being goody-two-shoes Tracy instead of the evil that we all know she is.

In the pub, Steve’s upset when his dog Rover has go to back to her original owner. The dog’s real name is Boo-Boo and Steve does a boo-hoo when he has to hand back the dog.  But it’s not long before Rover returns, scratching and crying at the back door of the pub wanting to be let back into Steve’s life. But as quickly as she returns, Rover leaves again when her owner comes looking in the pub for her.

And that's just about that for this week.
