New girl Kayla is revealed to be the daughter of Nasty Neil Clifton, the bent copper involved in Bethany’s grooming gang. Kayla visits her dad in prison and it all becomes clear why she’s making friends with Bethany and Craig. She starts by driving a wedge into Bethany and Craig’s friendship. What a nasty piece of work.

There were some wonderful scenes this week as news of Eva and Toyah’s failed baby plot comes to light. Peter moves out of the Rovers and in with his dad next door. Simon goes with him. Peter tells Toyah he’s finished with her, finished with the pub and wants to put his share up for sale. Hurrah for all that! He and Toyah never looked comfortable working there and the sooner we can have Liz back where she rightly belongs, the better.

Johnny decides to after custody of baby Susie and is supported in this by Carla, Kate and Michelle. The only one who can see sense is Jenny but Johnny won’t listen to her and wants her to shut up and move out. But when it’s pointed out to Johnny that he stands a better chance of getting custody if he’s in a stable marriage with Jenny, he takes her back with open arms. Oh, Jenny, love, you’re far too good for him!

Anyway, Eva tells Adam about Johnny wanting custody of Susie. Adam prints out a fake DNA test result that shows he’s Susie’s dad and offers it to Eva, but she declines. Instead, she reaches out to Johnny and he softens, calling off the custody battle. That is, until he finds the fake DNA test result on Adam’s desk, thinks it’s a real one, thinks that baby Susie is Adam’s, not Aidan’s and all hell breaks loose again.

Over at Eileen’s house, Steve turns up to find out why Abi’s living there. He’s on instructions from Eileen to find out why the house hasn’t been rented out yet. But when he turns up again, Abi’s got her mates there and they’re all drunk. Abi’s plan to get her twins back by trying to convince social services that she’s a fit mother don’t seem to be going as well as she hoped so far.

Over at the salon, Audrey and Maria are at odds and this time it’s war. Maria feels put upon at work and when Audrey tells her that she wants to put up the rent in the flat, Maria’s not best pleased.

Meanwhile at Underworld, Alya takes Sarah on as her PA. When the girls complain that the job wasn’t advertised and they wanted to apply, Alya makes them eat their words. She and Sarah come up with a plan which has Sarah running Alya’s personal errands and even unblocking the toilet at the knicker factory. When the girls see what Sarah’s being put through as Alya’s PA, they decide they don’t want the job after all.

Kirk and Beth have a falling out when Beth finds out that the old woman Sharon whose dog Kirk has been walking isn’t an old woman at all. She’s a young, pretty woman and Beth flies off the handle when Kirk tells her what’s gone on. We cheered in our house when Beth flung Kirk’s clothes from Maria’s flat through the window down to the cobbles. It’s been a long time since we had one of those scenes!
And finally this week, Ryan starts work at Speed Dahl with Sophie and Fiz and Tyrone drift further apart after Ruby stirs things between them.

And that’s just about that for this week.
