This was the week that Geoff turned even worse with Yasmeen. Just when you think Yasmeen’s going to wake up and smell the furniture polish, she kowtows to Geoff’s command and his grip on her becomes stronger.  This week Geoff managed to convince Yasmeen she was an alcoholic. He stripped her of her credit cards and handed money to her when she needed it to buy anti-bacterial cleaning solution because Geoff said the house wasn’t clean enough. Cathy gets suspicious and shares her thoughts with Brian, who talks to Geoff who tells a bunch of lies. This is unpleasant stuff to watch, but the sweetness of it all is knowing that Geoff will get his comeuppance in the worst/best possible way.

Sally packs her bags and goes to stay with her sister Gina this week as she can’t cope with the truth about Tim. He’s trying to get rid of his Las Vegas missus but wants a divorce. But Imran warns Tim that as soon as he files for divorce from Charlie, alarm bells will ring and he’ll be found out to be a bigamist.

Over in the Rovers, Steve proposes to Tracy, desperate to win back the light of his life even if she did sleep with Paula on New Year’s Eve. Steve’s down on one knee with a rose in his hand and all eyes on him. But Tracy turns him down flat.

Roy and niece Nina start bonding when Roy visits her in her flat and finds the door covered with broken egg. Someone’s been throwing stuff at Nina’s door and she tells Roy is a drug dealer in the flat above who’s getting his revenge on her for dobbing him into the cops. Roy’s horrified and begs Nina to go and stay with him instead. There’s a lovely scene where Roy takes Hayley’s sewing machine for Nina to use and Nina wraps Roy in a corset she’s designed. But still Nina doesn’t move into Roy’s flat although they become close over a game of chess. A lovely touch.

Elsewhere, Hope and Ruby are allowed to return home as long as Fiz doesn’t have contact with them and so she moves into a B&B. Jade comes calling, all smug and causing trouble and it’s Evelyn, in a wonderful scene, who sends Jade packing. Everyone needs an Evelyn in their life.

At Weatherfield General, Shona opens her eyes and David takes this as a sign that she’ll soon be released and sent home. But Shona’s far from well as she comes out of her coma. She doesn’t recognise David, thinks Max is her son Clayton and tells the nurse she doesn’t want David anywhere near her again. The road to recovery looks a long and winding one.

And finally this week, the odious Bernie entraps the horrible Kel on the red rec. She’s pretended to be a teenage boy and Kel turns up for their meeting with cheap lager and condoms in a bag. Bernie films it all and turns it into the cops. Let’s hope it’s the end of this nasty little storyline, and we’ll see no more of Bernie and Kel.

And that’s just about that for this week.
