Greetings and welcome to another week of words from Weatherfield.  Without any further ado, here we go with this week’s Corrie weekly update.

Geoff uses his role as DJ at Weatherfield Hospital Radio to plead innocence over his relationship with Yasmeen and his upcoming court case. And just when you think he can’t get any worse, he does. He appears to Yasmeen in a nightmare where there are many horrible Geoffs taunting her. There’s Jiggle It Geoff, demanding Yasmeen get back in her box and it’s really effective TV. The stress of the upcoming court case causes poor Yas to have a heart attack and the court case is postponed. However, there is light on the horizon when Yasmeen gets a visitor, a woman called EIaine who says that for many years she was a victim of Geoff’s too. Elaine describes what she went to which is identical to the suffering Geoff has inflicted on Yasmeen. This, along with Yasmeen’s prison mate Lucy who tells her to read a prison library book on coercive control, means that Yasmeen’s mind is now working its way around to realising just what Geoff has put her through.

Adam continues to flirt with Laura to find out more about her missing husband, the drug dealer Rick Neelan and what Gary’s involvement in it all is. However, it backfires on Adam when Sarah walks in on Adam and Laura in the solicitor’s office. There’s a wonderful scene when Laura huffs out of the office and tells Sarah that her and Adam’s marriage is dead in the water. “Go on, let us have a go on him!” she says to Sarah, nodding towards Adam.  Adam has a lot of explaining to do to Sarah to cover his tracks but even the truth, that Adam is obsessed with bringing down Sarah’s ex-boyfriend Gary, isn’t news that Sarah wants to hear.

However, Adam might not have too much work to do as Gary digs his own grave.  When Gary finds out that Brian intends to go to the woods to do metal detectoring (is that a real word?) he warns Brian to lay off. Well, the woods are where Gary buried Rick Neelan’s body and Gary doesn’t want Brian snooping around. Brian tells Bernie that Gary’s put him off going out with his metal detector but when Bernie tells Brian that she’s seen Gary loading up his van with a shovel and heading to the woods, Brian decides to head to the woods after all and Bernie goes with him. Brian comes back empty handed, but Bernie finds a watch that’s inscribed To Rick from Laura. Will the game be up soon for Gary?

Elsewhere this week, in a twist I didn’t see coming, Daniel visits sex worker Nicky again. But he’s not after sex, he just pays to spend time with her in an hotel room – where she dresses up in Sinead’s cardigan and sprays Sinead’s perfume on herself. Then, Daniel snuggles up on the bed next to the touch, smell and memory of his dead wife. It’s both icky and heartbreakingly sad.

And finally this week, Abi packs up and moves out of Sally’s house and in with Kev. I really like Abi and Kev together and hope it all works out.

And that’s just about that for this week.
