Hello from Canada. My name is Andrea and I have been taking care of The Mercury for a couple of years and have now crossed the threshhold to taking care of the weekly updates. Please have patience as I grow with the flow!

The Prodigal Daughter

Sharon drags Sally and Gail for a drink but it’s soon clear that she’s really interested in tracking down Leanne. Realising Peter is Leanne’s ex, Sharon suggests they go for a coffee. But Peter claims he’s too tired. Sharon calls at No.8 and steals Gail’s laptop.

Refusing to take no for an answer, Gemma drags Sharon to the Rovers for cocktails. Whilst Jenny and Gemma mix the cocktails, Sharon breaks into Gail’s laptop and finds Nick’s mobile number. Jenny returns with the drinks and wonders why Sharon has a screensaver of Sam on her laptop. Making out she must have picked up Gail’s laptop by accident, Sharon hurries out to return the laptop to Gail.

Shona’s suspicious and tells Gail that Sharon’s up to something. Having overheard Sarah in the Kabin, Sharon offers to help her with the Sam’s party. Sarah receives a text from Nick asking her to meet him at the Red Rec as a matter of urgency so Sharon offers to collect Sam from school. Sharon returns to No.8 with Sam and listens in when Sam calls Nick and tells him how much he misses him. Sharon tells Sam that if he needs someone to talk to, he can talk to her. Sam confides in Sharon and when Sharon suggests she could set up a secret meeting for him with his Dad, Sam’s thrilled. Sarah confides in Adam that Nick didn’t show up. Sarah returns home to find Sharon and Sam holding a birthday disco in the living room. Sharon lies to Jenny, making out she's mentoring one of the prisoners. Sharon takes a call and is furious to hear that Simon’s done a runner.

The Drugs Beat

Simon announces he’s not going back to the hideout meanwhile Leanne worries that Harvey’s mob has got Simon. Peter and Carla persuade Simon to leave. Peter overhears the cleaner on his phone, reporting Simon’s whereabouts. The cleaner punches Peter. Simon legs it. Simon returns to the hideout and admits how he nearly got caught. The transplant coordinator explains to Peter and Carla that as a result of his head injury, they’re going to keep him in for a couple of nights. Peter pulls out a crumpled piece of paper from his pocket and stares at the address on it.

Oh Peter!

Carla calls at No.1 and takes off her coat to reveal some very sexy underwear. Poor Old Steve walks in on Peter and Carla having sex in the living room. Peter and Carla hastily pull their clothes back on. Carla reveals that she’s taken the lease on the Street Cars flat for them. Having taken a call from his transplant coordinator, a shocked Peter tells Carla and Steve that they’ve found a liver for him. A nervous Peter readies himself to leave for the transplant centre. In their hideout, Nick admits that Sam’s been in touch to let them know that Peter’s having a liver transplant. Simon listening from the door. Leanne knocks on Simon’s bedroom door but to her horror she discovers he’s gone. Simon arrives at the hospital, shocking Peter and Carla. Sharon tells Sam that Simon’s Dad has gone into hospital for a liver transplant and he ought to message Nick so that he can let Simon know.

The Dobbs Affair

Chesney calls at No.9 and warns Fiz that locking Tyrone out solves nothing and she needs to be the bigger person for the sake of the girls. He then calls at the garage and tells Tyrone he’s persuaded Fiz to let him see the girls. Tyrone gently explains to Hope and Ruby that he no longer wants to be with Mummy, he’s fallen in love with somebody else but he’ll always love them very much. Tyrone takes the girls to Speed Daal for their tea. But when Hope spots Alina and asks her to join them, pointing out she’s Daddy’s girlfriend, Tyrone and Alina are mortified. Fiz makes up with Maria and admits her biggest fear is that the girls will choose Alina over her. Over tea, Hope quizzes Alina about her favourite things and to Tyrone’s delight, it’s clear the girls are smitten. As Tyrone, Alina, Hope and Ruby tumble out of Speed Daal in high spirits, Fiz steams over and doing her best not to cry, drags the girls away.

The Teen Beat

Unhappy with Asha’s living arrangements, Dev resolves to have a word with Corey’s Dad. Dev meets up with Stefan, Corey’s Dad, but it’s soon clear that Stefan couldn’t care less what his son gets up to. Dev loses his temper and asserts that if Asha fails her exams or lands up pregnant, he’ll be holding him accountable for his lack of parental responsibility. When Corey reveals that Dev had a word with his Dad and she’s no longer welcome to stay, Asha’s furious. Aadi reveals to Dev that Asha’s been in touch and told him where she’s living. A smug Corey explains that his parents have taken over the lease and the flat is now his and Asha’s. In the cafe, Asha enthuses about her new living arrangements to Nina and Kelly. Yasmeen warns Dev that he needs to keep a close eye on Asha. Dev calls at Asha and Corey’s flat. As Dev leaves, Corey makes it clear to Asha that her Dad’s not welcome. Mary calls at Asha and Corey’s flat with a house-warming gift. Asha thanks Corey for a lovely day and admits she’s never felt happier. When Asha suggests they get a couple of cats so they can be a proper family, it’s clear Corey doesn’t share her enthusiasm. When Kelly accuses Corey of turning into Mr Boring, Corey reckons she’s jealous, but it’s clear they’re enjoying the banter (honestly, I don't know which of these two I dislike the most!).

A Gothic Tale

In a bid to win Nina round, Seb calls at the cafe in full Goth attire and handing her a funeral wreath for her birthday, explains how George helped him achieve the look. Nina’s furious and accuses him of making a mockery of her yet again. Nina thaws towards Seb and explains how she became a Goth and what it means to her. Nina forgives Seb and asks him to move in.

Toddling On

In the undertakers, Todd looks over the figures and warns George that people are too slow in paying their bills and he needs to toughen up. George pays no attention. Eileen listens as Todd phones a client and sets about chasing up funeral payments. She’s not convinced that George will be happy about it, but Todd disagrees. George is horrified to discover that Todd has been demanding deposits from clients before the funeral has taken place and resolves to refund every one of them. Having called a few clients, George begrudgingly admits that Todd’s business idea is a good one and wonders if he’s got any more up his sleeve. Wilf calls at the undertakers to arrange his wife’s funeral.  Todd flogs him the most expensive package. Wilf’s son calls at the undertakers and complains to George about Todd’s ruthless approach. Telling Todd that he’ll deal with him later, George assures Wilf’s son that he’ll find a cheaper package for his Mum’s funeral.

When Todd reveals that George sacked him, Eileen vows to have it out with him. However when George reveals how Todd was ripping off vulnerable customers, Eileen’s rage turns to embarrassment. Eileen tells Todd that George has agreed that he can work his week’s notice. Todd returns to the undertakers where George lays down the law, explaining that they have the body of a young boy in the chapel of rest and he’d better show some respect. Todd is reminded of his own son when Stuart, an old mate from his past, revealed that the young boy in the chapel of rest is his son. George is sympathetic and offers Todd his job back. George and Todd go for a pint and agree that from now on, they’re not only colleagues, but mates too.

The Impending Nuptuals

Tyrone and Tim bicker over the best place to hold Kevin’s stag do. When Tyrone makes it clear that he’s expecting to take Alina with him to their wedding, Kevin and Abi are quietly horrified, aware of how much it will upset Fiz. When Abi reveals that Tyrone’s intending to bring Alina to their wedding, Sally’s horrified. Having realised that Alina’s not welcome at the wedding, Tyrone takes umbrage and tells Kevin and Abi they can stuff their wedding and he’s resigning from Best Man.

And that’s just about that for this week.
