Todd Boyce was born in 1961 in Columbus, Ohio, USA, the youngest of three sons born to an US business manager father and an English mother. At the age of 6 the family moved to New York then three years later they moved to Frankfurt, where Todd learned fluent German. At the age of nine the family moved to Chicago for three years before moving to Sao Paulo, Brazil where Todd learned fluent Portuguese. At the age of sixteen the family settled in Sydney, Australia.

After leaving school Todd was accepted at both the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and University of Southern California (USC) but elected to train at Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Sydney, graduating in 1983.

Todd made his television debut as Mark Patterson in the soap The Restless Years and appeared on the Australian stage in productions including Ball Boys, Limited Edition, Gentleman Prefer Blondes, West Coast Romeo, Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf, The Normal Heart and Burn This, for which he won the Critics Circle Award for his role of Wayne Harrison. He appeared on television in Angel In Green, Hector's Bunyip, Tusitala, Melba and I Can't Get Started. He also acted in the television series Vietnam alongside actress Nicole Kidman.

In 1989, Todd moved to Central London and his career continued with films such as Second Best, Great Expectations and Susannah Dreaming. He returned to Australia to appear as Bluey in the successful mini series Fields of Fire. He played Lyle Blackmore in the film The Delinquents alongside Kylie Minogue.

In England he appeared on television in Miss Marple, Boys From The Bush, Frankie's House, Stalag Luft, Under The Hammer, The Dying of the Light, Young Indy, Space Precinct, The Affair and Cold Lazarus. In 1992 he played Kyle in the film Blue Ice and played Martin in the BBC series Bad Girl, alongside Jane Horrocks. In 1995 he played William Short in the film Jefferson In Paris alongside Greta Scacchi and Nick Nolte and played GI Colonel Heuit in Over Here, alongside Martin Clunes. Other films include Hostile Waters, The Ruby Ring and Danielle Steel's The Ring.

In 1996 he joined Coronation Street as Audrey Roberts' illegitimate son Stephen Reid, a role he played on and off for three years. Todd lives in London.
