Abi Conway was nearly run over as a kid, and as a result went rigid for 15 minutes, and then found out he could do it himself - 'Voluntary Catalepsy induced by Self-Hypnosis' He was a guest of honour at the Medical School of Prague, where 83% of the students pronounced he dead.

He was one of Alec Gilroy's earliest acts - 'discovered' on the Golden Mile at Blackpool as "Lasarus, the Living Corpse". Alec called him in to help out with a dodgy raffle he was running in the Rovers. Abi won, only to drop down 'dead', and be pronounced so by Jim McDonald ("I've seen corpses in the Army") and Martin Platt ("and he's a nurse - so he should know, so he should"). 'Miraculously', landlord Jack Duckworth gave him the kiss of life, and Abi walked again. In 'gratitiude', he gave Jack his pair of tickets to Las Vegas.
