Wayne Farrell

1992 - 1993

"Top" (Stockport) County footballer Wayne Farrell captured the eye of Raquel Wolstenhulme while she was helping her then-present boyfriend, Gordon Blinkhorn to make burgers for a football match. Raquel dumped Gordon for Wayne, and then proceeded to bore the Rovers regulars by talking about how wonderful her Wayne was. "He stays in such nice hotels," she told Angie Freeman. "There was a woman in room service who picked up the phone in his bedroom the last time I spoke to him."

Wayne did not turn out to be a very good footballer, Raquel said she didn't like it when the crowd on the terraces chanted "Wayne, Wayne go away," and although she was at first delighted when he scored an "own goal", she soon realised that it was not as special as Des Barnes would have her believe. There was much amusement in the Rovers when Raquel told everyone that Wayne was "playing away".

Soon it became apparent even to Raquel that Wayne was cheating on her, and when he stood her up on her birthday, revealing that he was sleeping with Serena Black, Raquel pushed him in the canal and told him that he was as bad at football as he was in bed, leaving the way open for slimy Gordon Blinkhorn to try his hand once again.
