Joan was the apple of her father's eye - but she considered herself a cut above both her parents, and rarely visited them - when she visited in 1978 she had never been back to the Rovers since Betty Turpin started !

However, it was to Joan that Annie turned after the death of Jack, and she would often retreat to 4 Peacock Drive, Derby and seek solace with her 'Joanie'
