Worked at Social Services and came to see Rita and Len Fairclough to assess if they were suitable for, and aware of all the problems of fostering a child.

He later brought round John Spencer and George the rabbit,and in 1982 Sharon Gaskell (without the rabbit...). Later in 1982 he came to see if Sharon was at No9 after she had run away from the Bolton's, and arranged for her to stay long-term.
